One year ago today, I bought and drove home my new to me slightly used (8k miles) ((Bone STOCK)) 2013 RT Limited. Thanks to the many, many very helpful and supportive people on this forum and local Spyder folks I've met through this forum I gotta say I've had one of the better first years of vehicle ownership.
I should say we've had when after 27 years of marriage and my wife not wishing to ride on my previous steeds, Sharon has rode several thousand miles of the 12k + miles put on our trusty '13 RTL. In nine or so riding months, we've spent way more time together, out on the road, attending Spyderfest '17, the 3rd annual Spyder Spin, Spyder Rendezvous and Spyder's in the Ozarks. For the first time ever in our marriage we spent over a week out on the road on the Spyder, travelling through MN, WI, and MI including taking a ferry ride with the Spyder. Sharon had her first ever multiple hour ride in the rain and survived to enjoy a wonderful lunch, her longest passenger day on the ride home, and likely the fastest she's ever been on the back of ANY cycle (all in the same weekend).. Oh wait, I forgot our Mn Spyderlovers weekend in Bemidji, trying to keep up with ... oh no names for that 100mph romp, he knows who he is....
I've had some minor issues, but also rode 1,700 miles in three days for the Smackdab 2017 ride, and did a IronButt Saddlesore 1k a couple weeks later, no problems, had a great time.
We are certainly one of the many very blessed 2013 RT families, no complaints except for the MN winters curtailing some, ONLY Some, of this winter's riding days. I've got a buddy with a great storage option who is more than willing to allow access to ride ANY day of the winter.(Last winter's storage was once in, once out.... no more:clap
But all of the enjoyment we had this past year has mostly been due to all of the help, suggestions, and knowledge I've gained here at Spyderlovers. Thank-you all.
