There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Handling ?!

The biggest question I have concerning this beautiful machine is the handling.
I know it's not driving like a motorcycle and you can't lean in corners like on 2 wheels, but I am questioning if after driving 30 years on 2 wheels the fun factor on 3 will be enough to go for 3. The test drive tomorrow will be max 1 hour and I guess that's not enough to tell me this. The worst case scenario would be selling my beautiful BMW to find out afterwards I didn't made a right choice. I know many are enthusiastic about the handling and I am very glad to see a machine which is safer as a 2 wheeler. I hope some riders with their experience can help me with this.

...and there are trade-offs. But, I find it just as much fun as my 2 wheeler...just different.
:agree: The more I ride it the more I like it. :doorag:

Is there a possibility in future you would say you like it more then 2 wheels ?

Hereover in a motorcycle magazine they didn't like the Spyder after a test because:

1/ it is a bit to safe (?) so you can't drift and you can't switch off failsave electronics
2/ the engine's 106 HP is not enough because of the weight (can't imagine that because of the 4.5 secs to 60mph)
3/ the width, you can't pass traffic

I guess the guys who tested have Ducati's at home to compare with ::)

I'm curious if it's possible to release the original 143 HP with a software update or chip without having to change
inner parts of the engine.. That would be great (is possible on a BMW K1200GT and probably others too)

I would agree with #1, it is too safe for me and I would pay to be able to bypass that when I wanted to.

I think the hp is fine. It has the same rear wheel hp as a Suzuki M109R and weighs in the same. Not saying I wouldn't want more but it's not lacking at all, this thing scoots pretty good. :doorag:

Strange, it's the safety of the vehicle what I like most in first place, it's the first sortlike "bike" which has this compared to a car. I would have thought that would be selling point number one.

I'm sure that is a big selling point and why a lot of novice riders are drawn to the Spyder. I'm not a novice rider and I like to manage my own risk. That being said it's still a very fun ride, just not as fun as it could be for me. ::)

In at least one instance I find the 3 wheel Spyder not to be as safe as a regular bike. If there is something laying in the road, be it road kill or any other foreign object, with a motorcycle you can usually avoid it. With a 4 wheel vehicle sometimes it can be straddled. With the Spyder, one of the 3 wheels will run smack over it !

Yea you pretty much have both sides and the middle covered. ::)

Having owned 5 Trikes, 57 Bikes, 6 Atv's.......the ride and handling are all different. If I feel like carving corners I jump on my Buell XB, if I want a fun ride with the Misses the Trike comes out. There are pluses with each unit, however the trike offers more safety in compromised road and weather conditions....that is why a lot of Northeastern Police motorcycle units will install side cars from October till late March.I am 69 but still ride agressively only when conditions are safe.As a former MSF and ATV Safety instructor .....The Spyder is A fun ride......if you crave two wheels have a Bike as well !

actually in most cases you don't have to avoid it, I've seen a vid where a motorcycle runs over a tire without problems, in many cases you can crash trying to avoid it...
With 3 tyres you can almost run over anything ;D

the pistons are lower compression, the cams are very mild and the fueling is totally different. we have already built a stage one version (based on our aprilia motors) using our stage one heads, degreed high lift cams & high compression pistons. on a standard rsv-r this upgrade gives well over 150 h.p.

What would something like that run?

O.K.
Let me just say something about the road......

This is a medium that is shared by all.
Doesn't matter how many wheels you are on.

If there is a road hazard, and you choose to brake, stop, put on your flashers, and remove the hazard from the road............

Have you done something wrong....or have you benefited us all?
