• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

handbrake/brake issue

Thanks Seth. If you have the cable secured and there is no flex, i can think of only two things that are making your system not work roperly.
1) The cable does not have enough "throw" or travel in it to pull the brake far enough. This may be cured by changing the attach point closer to the pivot point, or changing the handle to one that pulls farther.

2) The cable is either stretching too much (too small diameter) or something else in the system is "giving/flexing"

3) I know, i said 2, but it could be a combination of 1 and 2.

Without looking at it inch by inch, this is the best I can do for you over the net at this point.
:agree: The only other thing I wondered about was whether the footboards might be interfering with full pedal travel. Hard to tell from the angle of the pictures. If you get interference anywhere, it could cause you to have to pump the brakes up to stop. You could have similar interference where the cable attaches. Have someone pull the brake lever and check for interference or binding in the entire system.

:agree:It looks to me like the pedal will hit the floorboard before full throw is achieved. I had to accomodate this problem with my footboard design. See this link http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5511
Also, the parking brake adjustment at the rear wheel is important in keeping the pedal travel to a minimum. As the pads wear you must tighted up this adjuster to keep from getting excessive pedal travel (or having no parking brake:opps:).

You Guys are Great------

----I want/need a hand brake, and this information is super-good---am waiting for a hydro system to be put on the market---thanks----SSSS

Both Foot and Hand Brake-----

------can both foot and hand brakes work without one interruping the other? If you install a hydraulic hand brake, do you have to take the foot brake off? I wonder if both hydraulic systems were connected, what happens when you pull on the hand brake? Seems to me the hydraulic systems would be in conflict with one another.......SSSS

Sara,
Both can work together. Take a look at the mod listed by NEXUS on a hydraulic system. You use a slave push cylinder mounted behind the brake assembly. When you push the brake lever on the handlebar it simply pushes the assembly forward as if you were actually stepping on the brake pedal.
