• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hand grips

Don't know if this subject has been discussed before.... In the "old days", before bikes computers on bikes, we used to change grips like we changed socks. We were always looking for the grippiest and most comfortable.
Now comes the Spyder. I hate the stock grips, don't want to buy BRP upgrades(?), and definately want to install grip puppies when done. Here's my question...Do any, or all, after market grips fit the Spyder?
I've got the compressor and razor knife!:clap:

ISO grips are great. I had them on an HD Electra Gllide Standard; and was very pleased with the results. my only concern now... would be changing the RT heated grips. not certain they'd work well.

You installed Kuryakyn's black ISO grips? I was told that they were for Harley applications only and wouldn't fit the Spyder. :dontknow:

If they did work, then I'll be ordering them tomorrow! :ohyea:

Let me know and thanks for posting!

Spyder All models 08-10 6341
7/8 handlebars all (universal) 6341 Thats what Kuryakyn site shows :thumbup: Black ISO grips

Wow, impressive response!!:clap::chat:
It appears that my suspicion was correct. Std. 7/8 bars take any std. grip. I'll be removing those horrendous grips tomorrow! No need to spend any more "crazy" money on grips for Spyders!
BTW, my question pertains to the RS. Haven't looked at an RT.

Thanks again fellow SpyderLovers!

:agree::agree::agree:

Yepper. The factory bar is a 7/8" bar (So are most of KewlMetal's bars as well). So most any universal grip (The 6341 ISO is) will work. Remember.. The 6341 is the "Blacked out" version. The 6241 is the original chromed version :thumbup::ohyea:

Yep . Installed the ISO Flame grips on my SE-5 and they look and work great .

Anyone switched out the grips on the RT and still kept the heated grips function ?

My RT has the factory heated grips... Is there any way to slap a better grip on mine and still retain that marvelous warm feeling??? :popcorn:

I guess my question would be, if you are going to cover them with grip puppies, why do you want to change them? You won't be able to see or feel the Kurayken girps anyway. :dontknow:
Not being a smart a@@, just wondering.

Excellent question. I won't be covering $60-70 grips with puppies. I also won't be installing puppies over stock, they are a weird profile! $10-15 grips w/grip puppies = +/-$25. I have the grip puppies on my BMW K1200R w/heated grips and love them!:2thumbs:

The spacer needs to be cut....easily done with a box cutter or hack saw..it's plastic and the glue and spacer comes provided with the grips.

Well damn, looks like I'll have a new set of chrome ISO Grips for sale.
The spacer he is telling you about is for the inside of the grip, at the end. This fills in the spot where there is not a enough factory handlebar (When needed). It is just a plastic cylinder that you cut to size, drop in the grip, slide the grip on, and make sure you have a snug (But not touching) fit to the first item mounted on your handlebar. :2thumbs:
