• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hand and park brake

I'm a double amputee and have rode my whole life I lost both legs 9 months ago and thought my riding days were over. I bout a 2011 Spyder RS and I can ride again. It has an ISCI hand brake and an ISCI extended parking brake lever.

Here's my issue. I still have a very hard time setting the brake with my Prostetics leg and the hand brake works great under 20 MPH but at higher speeds it just gradually slows you down no matter how hard you squeeze.

Any ideas on how to extend the parking brake out away from the bike so I can get to it easier and anyone else have any experience with the hand brake and is there ideas on how to correct that?

I tried going to the local Spyder dealer but they wouldn't touch the hand brake because it wasn't factory installed equipment.

Any help would be appreciated !

Hang in there! We have it on the Roadster Renovations list of items to make better. I am convinced that either a larger pivot/fulcrum on the bottom or perhaps even using a small booster vacuum assist it can be accomplished. It will probably be fall/winter before we can get to it though!
One thing that should help you is using the gears to slow down. Be careful and congrats on being able to ride again!!
And btw, others on here have complained that the hand brake doesn't work as well as it should.

Does the hand brake lever bottom out ?
I was having a problem with mine not stopping and changed pads to fully sintered from Baha Ron, a sponsor and now can easily
activate the ABS system. I spent a lot of time working on mine and discovered the main braking system needs to be in great shape for the Hand Brake to work properly. My foot brake would work ok but had a little more travel than needed for the hand brake to work properly. I had more than one problem. You can PM me if you have any questions.
