• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

half helmets

I have a Scorpion 1/2 that I like but don't wear much usually wind up with my Gmax 3/4. I have a problem with dry eye and have yet to find a set of goggles that fit comfortably over my prescription glasses. I'm looking for a set of goggles that will seal good and that can have prescription lens installed. Any suggestions there?

Ride safe,

Ride safe,

I got prescription goggles at Wal-Mart.

In my Harley days a half helmet is all I ever wore, but since getting the spider and my Vega VCOM helmet I wear it all the time. And in Texas it is regularly over 100 degrees.

In my opinion....you know about opinions....every one has one, a good ole half helmet
is just that it will protect 1/2 your head how much is the other half worth ? yes they may be cooler but you have little or no protection if you get into a crash. ALSO they are not allowed in some states.
Just my opinion
Dave

Last I looked my half helmet was DOT certified, good in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and the US Virgin Islands.
If a half helmet sucks because it only covers 4% of your body rather than the 8% covered by a full face, does that mean the other 92% of your body is superfluous? I only ask because I regularly see guys on sport bikes with Shoeis or Arais, completing the ensemble with tank tops, shorts and flip flops. I always found that odd. Do they aspire to be a head in a jar ala Futurama?

Time Out? :roflblack::roflblack:

The OP asked our help in recommending a brand of half helmet. A decision had already been made about what kind of helmet they wanted to wear.

I went up the ass end of a suv at 65 miles per hour on my Harley...Needless to say...I would be dead if I hadn't had a full face helmet on..Don't need to comvince me that the full face helmet is the best protection...but each to thier owen...I'm also a member of ABATE.

Dave: The original poster was asking for recommendations, not opinions. I'm sure you didn't mean to hijack his thread.

I bought a scorpion exo 900 modular it's not a half but it comes with a kit to take the face off and install a included trim kit to make it a full open face and still has working sun glasses.

And is DOT and ECE 22.05 certified

Excellent point, in my haste to defend the choice of a half helmet in general, I neglected to address the man's question (oops). I have a couple of half helmets and one that stands out for comfort, unfortunately, I have to wait until I get home to post the recommendation as I can't remember the brand. DOH!

My wife and I both wear the same helmet ( like the graphite too). Very comfortable, and adjustable.
I have the Scorpion half helmet with drop down shield also. Loved it until I found a Bell Pit boss graphite.
Fits great and really really light! Did I say Light!
Fell in love with it and hardly use the Scorpion anymore. It also has the drop down eye protector.

Thanks

Thanks everyone for your recommendations/opinions!! All very entertaining. It looks like there are a lot of Scorpion helmets out there. I believe we will take a look at those. Once again thanks.
