• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am looking for a suggection on a good "half" cover for my spyder...I have a full cover but am looking or a light weight cover I can travel with...something that covers the seat, controls, instruments and windscreen (one that fits a backrest would also be nice)...any recommendations ?

cover

I got the x-large motorcycle cover at Walmart for around $20.00. It does a good job covers what you want covered including backrest also comes down over the frunk but not front wheels. It has four hooks to tie down with so wind or Wings helicopter in my case (work at hospital) doesn't blow it off.:2thumbs:

Yes :2thumbs: I have that cover also It has bag and
very compact I usually keep in frunk in case I might need to cover :spyder2:...freebob :doorag:

My wife and I both have Nelson Rigg half covers and they are great. They fit over aftermarket windshields, handlebar risers and seats.

Mine also fit when I left my bikersfriend seat bag on the back. The only thing, with aftermarket windshields, the cover can't fit over the mirrors too, but no big deal there. Actually if you really wanted it too, you could still put over the mirrors, you would just have to run bungee extensions through the loops that go over your foot pegs. The small ones are real convenient for that.

Lamont had a thread about a year ago for a light cover that was $12 +/-. Anyway, it was cheap enough I bought two - for both of my bikes (nice US flag motif). I use mine every day....

I picked up a baby crib matress cover for under $10 at Wal-mart. It fits over the handle bars and then gets tucked under the Runk lid. It's great for short term. But it looks like a crib cover. I may dye it black so it looks more "respectable"

I know money can be an issue for some; but, I use these adjustable bungees and I realize I could have purchased short ones for a lot less; but, that's just me.

To me it's just more convenient to carry a bungee that can be adjusted to different lengths.

I use a QwikShade, large, and it covers from the mirrors to the rear indicators. It's easy to attach and packs into a small pouch.

My main goal in a half cover is to keep water from settling on the seat during a rainstorm. Covering the windshield, handlebars, mirrors, side bags, etc. would just be an added bonus. IMO, a half cover that covers the side bags, trunk, windshield, etc. gets into the full cover territory.

I wonder if it will fit over the BRP Givi bags?

No, there is not enough material on the back end of the cover for that. You can see the pics I posted of it here:

bjt hit the nail on the head, the main purpose for this cover is to keep the rain, sun, and curious people off the seat of the Spyder when you have it parked outside, and are not around to keep an eye on it.

Nelson-Rigg will be coming out with a new half cover designed to fit tallers windshileds on the RS.

The company used the BRP 25" ultra touring windshield on my RS as the guide for the template.

I use an x-large m/cycle cover also. It covers everything except the front wheels including Madstad screen, Givi side cases and Givi top box and bar end mirrors. Doesn't leave much uncovered when you have to park outside a motel and it's raining.
