• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Had to Ride The Other Can Am Today

Sat up on a mountain top today acting like a plane crash. Had my ELT Transmitter and waiting for my Search & Rescue Crew To Come Find Me!!
Thought it would be better to use this Can Am instead of the new one I just got! lol
Couldn't find the 4X4 button anywhere on the Spyder so went with the Commander 1000 XT.

I was found within 2 1/2 hours. Way to go team!:clap::clap:

Who was doing the searching? I'm guessing it was not the Civil Air Patrol.

I'm a volunteer member of my county's Search & Rescue. Have been since 1995. We have a mostly volunteer group and are part of the Sheriff's Dept. I have been Commander for several years and one of the instructors for our training.

I have a couple friends in the Civil Air Patrol and when we need them they will come and assist us. Life Flight and Air Med also join in with us on a lot of our missions.

For the exercise we had yesterday, we only had our search & rescue members involved. We just purchased some new equipment for ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter) location. That's the signal a planes box will emit in the event of a crash. The new equipment is a lot faster and easier to use. Training was a success!!:yes::yes::yes::2thumbs::yes::yes::yes::yes:

All of the volunteer groups such as yourselves do a great job!
Plus it was a nice day to sit up on a mountain enjoying the view (and perhaps a couple of beers!).
Well done!!

I appreciate that. It take a lot of my free time but it always pays off. It was when I had only been in S&R for a couple years when I found my first lost child. It was a little girl 4 yrs old. The best feeling I think I have ever had was when I got out of my vehicle with the little girl and handed her over to her panicked Mom. Just watching both of them was payment for all the years I have done this to date.

And it was a great day up on the mountain top. Clear sky and just a little breeze. Perfect. Even up in the 60's, for Wyoming that's good.
