• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Had my tail section painted on the RT

I've never been happy from day one with the look of the tail section of the RT, it just didn't look finished to me. It's been in my mind to have this painted and I finally got it done by Farris Customs and I'm glad I did.

When I was in Cuba MO I got a chance to use the shop at Cowtown to swap out this section. It didn't take long and the end results were great, I'm very happy with the color match and it looks factory now. It's held up great for the 5000+ miles I have with it on so far. :doorag:

This is what it looks like with the tail section off.

Unpainted and painted

A little while back somebody posted some pics of a Platinum Spyder done up like that... Thanks for driving that "nail home"! This one will have to be a Wintertime project... :2thumbs:

Yes, that would of been Barbwire, I think she was the first to pull the triger and get the tail painted by Danny.

Looks great, is it in shiny black or timelessblack?

Would like to do this. Wondering out loud, If Farris customs has a swap tail part where I have my tail piece removed and he already has a painted one to swap, and i pay Cowtown to reinstall when I am out at Spyderfest next year, hmmmmmmmmm, that would be spectacular. just saying ;)

It was painted to match the stock paint and he nailed it.

Looks GREAT!! I never liked the looks of the flat black, either. Is that paint applied directly over the stock surface (after normal prep work) or does the stock surface have to be modified some way in order to get the smooth, shiny look?

I'm not sure what it takes prep wise but it looks like the rest of the panels.

Prep?

I love the look! My question is what is needed to get a smooth look? The black tail piece is not as smooth as the other panels.
