• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Guess who needs a new front sprocket?

:yikes:HOLY :cus: ! What did they replace?
How may miles were on yours? Mine is in for same issue with 22k miles on it

17429 MILES, Front sprocket, main shaft, and all assorted bearings, oil gaskets. seals, etc. [motor had to be removed]
And that's with out adding in rear bearings / tire but those i consider normal ware.

This issue is getting more widespread for sure. I don't think the problem is so much bad design or engineering (though I think that they should have come out with a tensioning system much like Capt. Jim's right from the git-go) it's just reeeeeally cheap materials and components being used. There is alot of this throughout the machine, but this is an area that they should have ponied up on and made better.

We'll have to see how many more go down now that the riding season is here.

UPDATE;
Well i finally have my Spyder back, Picked it up Friday Night.
1,823 $ Less tax and a few extras. Total 2,151 $
I've had a few people this weekend ask me how do i like the Spyder,
I Just show them the invoice.
Even my dealer thinks it's a Manufacturers defect, But BRP thinks differently.

Ouch! I am very sorry to hear BRP did not cover yours under warranty. :(

The price to fix it bothers me, The month to fix it annoys me, BRP's not standing up to a defect just plain ticks me off.
In the month the Spyder was in the shop i put 800+ miles on my Er-6n,
The Spyder doesn't do it for me any more, Kind of like having a fight with a friend, You might be friends again but it will never be the same.
At this point i think I'll relegate the Spyder to riding in bad weather,
And wait [hope] for some other manufacturer to come out with a reverse trike.

I totally understand your feeling like that after what just happened. It is a crying shame that it had to be that way, as it could have definitely been handled much better and you would have been a much happier owner than you are now.

Hold the phone just a minute here--- was your Spyder no longer under warranty???

I believe many others have had the sprockets and shafts replaced under warranty---- I have the BEST so I'm still covered and I fully expect them to replace my shaft and sprocket under warranty.

I just put a new sprocket on --- and the shaft is NOT in good shape and will need replacement--- hoping to ride all summer and have it done in the winter.....

Rode her fast and rough today in the smokies and everything held up fine...

When you put a new sprocket on-- mark it along with shaft and bolt so you can tell if there has been any movement....

I think this is definitely something worth talking to the BRP reps at the owner's event about.

If anyone has one of these bad sprockets laying around I would love to have one. I will pay shipping if someone will ship it to me. I need it for a template. Please PM me if you want to help.
