GS vs RS

When I bought my 2009 Spyder, back in March, I'm pretty sure the dealer said it is an RS, I recently looked at the cover of the manual, and it doesn't specify GS or RS, it says SM5, which just tells me it's a manual transmission. My question is how can you tell one from the other, and what's the difference?

2008 and 2009 are GS. 2010 and 2011 are RS. They are all the same, other than minor refinements, the designation just changed when the RT came out so the two models have similar tags.

Like Scotty says, it's really nothing more than a marketing designation change. Same, same other than you can identify production date by the designation. It would be the same thing as if BRP changed the 2012 RT to a GT. Same machine either way.
