• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. GS SE5 Starting Issue and Scorpio i900 Alarm

Hey guys - noticed a few things lately about my GS SE5 Spyder and wondering if anyone had any thoughts....

1. Recently I had an issue where the Check Engine light would come on and the message "Check Transmission" would start scrolling across. When I would try to up shift...nothing. Then after trying two or three times it would shift. Then the same issue again when trying to go to the next gear. Sometimes it worked fine, others it did not. The dealership told me it was the shifter and it had to be replaced, which I did and have not had the problem since. However, I now notice since then that if I did not turn the bike off in N, it is not starting in N like is used to and the manual says it should. I know I need to try and turn off in N but in the even I forget I was curious why it is not doing it on it's own at start-up. This now happens every time I was not in N when turning it off.

2. I just started noticing the last two times I started it it would sound like was about to fully start, then there would be a very quick pause and then it would start. The bike normally never sits more than 2 or 3 days without use max and I haven't had this problem before. Almost reminds me of a battery issue but it starts right away and the battery is only 5 months old.

3. Lastly, the very last time I used the bike, I backed it out of the garage to let it warm up and put it in N. All of a sudden the Scorpio alarm chirped like it was arming. The thing is, I didnt even have the remote on me and it was in a place that it would not have been triggered. The remote did not even show it as armed.

Any info would be great - I love this bike but for some reason whenever I notice anything strange, it seems to be multiple things at once.

Thanks!

I can't shed light on the alrm situation, but there are a couple of things you can check on the others. First, when starting in gear, the brake pedal must be firmly pressed. If not, the Spyder won't shift to neutral. If you are sure you are pressing the brake pedal firmly, check your oil level, and check whether an oil change (and new trans filter) is due. If all this checks out, see your dealer...you may have HCM troubles.

Second, a weak battery (or low voltage) can cause starting hesitation. Be sure the battery terminals (inside the bodywork) are clean and tight. Also be sure the rear frame ground (negative jumper terminal under the seat) is tight. If all that is good, suspect a weak battery.
