• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

GS/RS...they're one & the same!!!

Okay, as the owner of an '08 GS I feel that I simply ran across 1 too many '08 "RS" owners that swear their bike is an RS and proceed to correct me by saying mine is an RS too. Don't get me wrong, I realize that the GS and RS are one & the same, but it irks me when they insist that mine is an RS when the RS model didn't even exist in the 1st year of production. I have tried to explain that there was no RS model in 2008, and that the bikes were actually a GS model...including theirs, but this is usually met with "well, when I bought it used, it was sold as an RS" or "the dealer I bought it used from told me it was an RS model". In the big picture of things, this is really an insignificant item to "rant" about, but it just chaps my hide when someone goes about repeating misinformation...and even moreso when they don't listen to another viewpoint or fact-check for themselves.

Whew...I feel better now:clap:

I run into the same thing with my 08 GS. I just let it go as you're never going to win the debate. And even if you do, you haven't won much... :ohyea:

Remember, anything is possible when you have no idea what you're talking about...

Let them..!!

rant it's easier. We know whats what. Many now make referrence to GS/RS to make it easier for folks. Please don't mention the numbered editions this may push them over the edge...:roflblack:

Have a '09 GS and get that once in a while. The more time goes on, the less people will believe the GS exists.

But we know better... ;)

.:agree:............our first Spyder was an '09 GS.:2thumbs: I quess that most of the "newer" people don't know that the name (model) change came about in 2010 when they first came out with the RT and BRP wanted both models to have simular names!

PE #3494 proud and paid off GS checking in !!!!!!!! Don't worry Ron...... just like all the greats before us, we will never get the respect we deserve prior to our passing. :roflblack::joke:

That's for sure!

I don't consider myself 'One of the Greats'. I'm only another player here.... and just happy to still be in the game! :ohyea:

'09 RS

i bot my '09 left-over in '10 and my paper work says it's an RS....

wha'sup'wit'dat....??? :shemademe_smilie: :dg2:

The paperwork for my 2008 GS purchased in June of 2008 said GS.

The paperwork for the 2009 RS purchased in March of 2009 said RS.

That's my story and Im sticking to it.

I believe the talk has been that the GS was changed to RS in order to make the designations Roadster Sport and Roadster Touring viable--just before the 2010 RT came out. :dontknow:
