• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

GS, RS and RS-S Rear Seat Storage Units from Alien Arachnid

I like it, the backrest would make it even more attractive, and if the same unit could mount on the BRP plate for when I had a passenger, I'd buy one today!

Nice concept...only thing I thought was that with most everybody changing out thier stock seat to others like the Corbins, Ultimates, Kontour won't that effect the mounting?

Appreciate the comments, here's a little more insight into the project

Wow great comments and input!! “Artufun” “Blueknight911”, “5SPDYR” you don’t mess around…no comment needed….thanks for setting things straight…much appreciated!!

First I hope everyone understands this is an unfinished product. No, bump pad, backrest, hinge, lock or liner has been fitted or installed. What you’re looking at is a fresh primer painted fiberglass part, pulled from our prototype plug to give everyone a idea of what it is going to look like. Concept design fiberglassing is a time consuming and tedious process, especially when nothing like it exists. Jeff who has put countless hours into this has really thought it through, most importantly keeping it a 2-piece mold design, which means a lower labor cost than a 3 or 4 piece mold process, which means an affordable storage unit. If you really want to know how we got here, you got to read the history in the thread I provided.

When this idea started back in January 2012, I started a thread here on Spyderlovers on what riders were looking for. I took it upon myself having some convalescent free time from ankle surgery to take on this project to build such a unit. The thread asks what riders were looking for in a mono cowl storage concept. What came back were riders were looking for a single driver storage unit that was not as costly as the Corbin unit and did not require a seat change. So our first design focused on that concept. Many have noted here and in my previous thread they would like a “Backrest” model freeing up the backseat for a passenger. I have thought about it and will plan on introducing a “Backrest” model as well in the near future. I believe, but have not fitted the Kwel Metals backrest set up, but it looks like the perfect mounting system to build that type of unit (Can-Am Spyder Trunk Mount Plate Item KD-246). I like the idea and will work at making sure I cover the “Two-Up” rider as well. Because we are a small company we are limited in developing one concept storage model at a time, but hopefully through this experience our R&D time will decrease from design to product. We have 3 other models we designed and can be found in my Alien Arachnid Enterprises album.

Now for what will it fit? We designed it to fit the all OEM Can Am Spyder seats which are what the majority of riders have. In order to insure conformity I purchased a BRP Ultimate Comfort seat and a Corbin two-piece seat to test fit. The BRP Ultimate Comfort seat was a solid fit. The Corbin seat was a little wider on the sides, but did not limit the unit from fitting on the seat. The storage unit secures to the seat via two straps that go underneath the seat. It is “Cinched” to snug it to the rear seat and that’s it. A high strength squeeze buckle inside the unit locks it in place. Not a complicated process at all. Understanding the mounting process, the seat pan design for the OEM seat would be the standard.

I truly appreciate your comments and ask that you continue to provide comments on what you want. I enjoy the community input and hopefully we can incorporate some of those thoughts into our design. I hope I answered most of your questions and feel free to PM me as well.

Keep Three on the Pavement,

Cole

Cole I understand this is an unfinished product, but it is coming along nicely. It's tough to get an idea of your finished product with the photos shown. It takes along time to get a new product rolling and I respect your effort.

I respect QT's input also and I agree with some of the stuff he says about the RS ( I said the excact things when I first joined here but have since learned the motto "to each his own"), but I know you are a very small operation and I'm pulling for you to succeed so I might have let my support of you cloud my judgment when responding to QT. I regret blasting him like I did and would have deleted my post but once someone quotes you, it's there for good. :(

Good luck to you Cole and I can't wait to see the finished product !!!!!
