It is with great regret that I have to forgo Maggie Vally and Lamont's BBQ. I really, really did not want to cancel and reluctantly did so this morning, under duress I might add. :gaah:
There is a room available at Comfort Inn, Maggie Valley 828 926- 9106
Short story,
I still want to go and would risk it, however my more level headed sensible wife as persuaded me otherwise (with the backing of our doctor).:shemademe_smilie:
Long Story,
I took a week off work in April to coincide with my youngest spring break. Just took a couple of days with the family for a mini break.
When we got back I had a huge honey do list, due to the long winter. I did some major work about the house, got the Spyder out of hibernation, spent a few hours cleaning the spyder and putting a good coat of wax on her.
Took a ride with the wife and had a great time, did some more chores, moving furniture around etc.
The next day I couldn't move some how I had hurt my back, don't have an ouch moment, so I can not say what caused it for sure, but I was in pain.
Over the last 4 or 5 weeks, I have been in ER twice, to our doctor about 5 times, had MRI's of my back and leg, X-rays of the same and seen a couple of specialists.
Although my back pain as been really painful but getting better day by day the most pain as been in my upper right leg, too the point that Its been intolerable.
Turns out that I have a hairline stress fracture in my right femur, which was some what unrelated to my back, but probably pushing on a nerve that highlighted the issue.
Like most I used to be a healthy young man, but as the years went by I slipped. I'm a senior software engineer for a large Silicon Valley company, living on the East Coast I work from home.
Working from home sounds great and it certainly has its advantages, but it has its downside, you become isolated and a little awkward at social gatherings. You become a workaholic as its hard to let go especially in a global company thats never sleeps.
Neighbors wonder what your plotting as they never see you go to work yet you have cars, bikes and a Spyder.:roflblack:
I sit on my butt for 14 hours a day with odd breaks to the fridge, slowly gaining weight.:helpsmilie:
About two years ago I had reached 293lb's, enough was enough so I took to a heavy diet and purchased P90x.
So I've lost over a 100lbs over the passed two years doing repeated workouts with P90x, P90x Plus and P90x2, rowing and walking daily on a treadmill.
hyea:
However in pushing my myself more and more each day the specialist thinks it is this that as caused the stress fracture.
His words, I see this more and more with older over weight men trying to lose weight and pushing themselves like they used too twenty years prior.
Although I feel a lot better that I did a couple of weeks ago, I still have some lower backache and my upper leg is hurting some what, I have to take it easy on my leg while it heals.
I was really looking forward to this event so much so that was still planing on coming, however my wife put her foot down and basically said if I go and I get in trouble (ER or Laid up in Hotel) I'm on my own.
We went for a follow up yesterday and the Doctor basically agreed with my wife, a good jolt could undo the recover I have made. :banghead:
So regrettably I'm grounded for the next few weeks, still hoping I can make the Lake George spyder event in September.
I hope everyone as a great time and trust me if I had my way I would be there.
