• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ground clearance adjustment

HI Spyder women and Spydermen

I have change my front shocks for ELKA's and I want to know the mesure from both red parts of the shocks to adjust my ground clearance (see the picture ).

Have a good day and good ride on you Spyder !!!!!!

Mine came CowTown set at 8.5" from collar to collar and I have since gone to 9" but not for ground clearance. I think the adjustment is to control side to side movement and stiffen the front end so that the Spyder stays more planted in the cross winds and corners. If you are going to make an adjustment don't forget to loosen the Allen screw on the lower collar.

thank you bobbobtar ,I will do it now .
What was your setting when first installed, inside collar-to-collar including the spring ?
Mine also came at 8.5" and I tightened the ring 2 complete turns to get them stiffer which I like. they are now close to 8 1/4".

I have not mesure before .........
Now they are put at 9 cm from collar to collar and my ground clearance is near 11,5 cm like with the stock absorber.
Now I will play with the black ring to adjust the shock absorber movement .

Install shocks, put jack under frunk and you want to raise front of bike about 1/2 in. befor the wheels come off the ground. if not ether, tighten or loosen the springs equally to get that 1/2 in of travel. NOT the travel of the shocks, but of raising of the front of bike. I had to loosen 5 turns on mine, but I don't weigh much. Then I found that sweet spot on the bottom adj. at 20 clicks closed from fully open. Mine rides great now. This advice came from Cowtown this past week over the phone.
