• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Grips. What will work?

I want to replace the stock grips. I've read you can use a 7/8" Küryakyn grips but I would like to use Harley grips (which are 1"). Can this be done? Is there an adapter that would allow you to use 1" grips on a 7/8" bar?

I don't know of any adapter. I'm about to get the 7/8 Kuryakyn ISO's. I've heard there is some tape you can use to take up some space but 1/8" is a lot of space to offset. If you do happen to find something to let you use a 1" grip let me know there are many grips i like that just don't come in 7/8.

Because of the 1/8 (1/16 x 2)throtte tube over the 7/8 bar on the right, the inner diameter is 1 inch, left grip is 7/8. Not sure if there is a shimming tube kit available so a 1 inch grip can be used on the left.
Is there some particular grip your interested in thats only available for harley?

I have these on my Harley now and really like them (Ironsides):

Would also be interested in these (Black Diamond Collection):

If I could get either to work on the Spyder, I would get them. I've had the Küryakyn ISO grips before and liked them, just not as much as the Harley grips.

I put Kuryakyn ISO one inch on my spyder - use common black electrical tape on the both handlebars and they work just great. Have been using them for a month with no problem.

Thanks - that's what I was looking for. Were the ISOs you put on the "universal" model?

If someone can let us know what model number 7/8 Kuryakyn ISO's grips will fit the spyder I would appreciate it.

I just put a set of mx grips on.
Cut the stock hard plastic off...lube up (soap) the new grips ....and slid'em on.

Yes the grips I installed were Kuryakyn Universal ISO Grips 6240. The left handlebar is 7/8 of an inch and the right one is almost 1 inch with the throttle according to my dealer. If you use these grips just follow the directions and you should have no problem.

They go one easy... I used high flow air to blow the stock grips off. Then, liberally applied the glue and slapped the Kury's on. Word of advice, push them on to the stop as fast as you can cuz that glue sets up fast. Anyone want to know how I know? LOL

This is the case for all motorcycles with 7/8" bars. For one inch bars the grips are 1" I.D. left, and about 1 1/8" ID right.

Hello,
I have seen the Kuryakyn grips with the flame design on some Spyder pics. I am hoping someone can tell me which model they were?
Thanks

I ended up with the Kuryakyn grips (ISO) in 7/8". They fit fine - easy on. We did have to wrap the left handlebar with electrical tape to get a better fit.

Sure wish they were 1" bars. Would have tons of great options.

I got my grips from www.xoprodox.com ask for Alex and tell him I send you his way. I will post a picture of mine grips for you. He and I worked on make the grips fit perfect for the spyder. Go to the website and see if there is a style of grip you want and then email [email protected] and he will fix you right up. Great service they had provided.

Thanks so much. I really appreciate it. I am ordering them this morning.
