There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. grip removal

I used a flat rob and ran around the grip to seperate the glue from the bars and then slid them off. I think some people have actually just cut them off.

The instructions for installing the NMN risers suggest using Windex and a flat screwdriver. I did that and it worked fine.

When I installed my Symtec heated grips I planned to use the original grips, so I didn't want to damage them. I did as some suggested above, but I also used compressed air in between the grips after they were broken free from the grip glue that held them in place and this made it easier to slide them off. I then added grip glue over the Symtec heating elements once they were installed and slid the grips back in place, again using the compressed air to aid in making this process easier. Once the grips were installed I added foam grip puppies over my grips using soapy water and compressed air in between the foam grips and this really helped to slide them on, otherwise it would of been a difficult task without the air. I hope this helps!

I know we have 7/8" bars. But, on the throttle side there is a sleeve; this must add to the diameter of the bar on that side. Aren't both grips the same diameter? Also, any specific glue that anyone used? Is the sleeve pretty easy to screw up, if you're not careful?

One set of grips has two different diameters, to accommodate the throttle sleeve.

glue or no glue

I've had a set of 7/8" gel grips for a few weeks and haven't put them on yet. Do most riders use glue when installing the grips?

What glue should I use when I put the grips back on :dontknow:

I'm not sure. I removed the stock grips and put them back on with the install of the NMN risers. I used a little RTV sealant on the left grip to help hold it as that was the only one that BRP used glue on to hold in place when they built the thing. The throttle side has the splines and grooves that match up and seem to hold the grip in place when dry. I know others who have installed new grips had some type of grip glue (included in the grip purchase?) that fastened the grips to the bar and sleeve.

You can buy grip glue wherever grips are sold - I'm not a big fan of it myself. My stock BRP grips had a TON of glue on them and just were not going to come off without cutting them.

Be careful when removing or installing and twisting the throttle side - there is a plastic 'nub' that holds the whole deal onto the bar - that nub can break - ask me how I know!

I installed my new grips sans any glue - and then the grip puppies can go over and hold things even tighter. You don't need air to install grip puppies - just soak them in HOT soapy water - slip on part way - wrap with a dry towel and twist and push them the rest of the way on.

I'm assuming the plastic 'nub' is between the sleeve and the handlebar. Just so I can be extra careful, is it inboard or outboard. Looking from the end of the grip, can you give me an "o'clock" location; like maybe between 3 and 6 for example. I ask because I want to be careful not to screw up the sleeve and then have to order and wait for another.

Thanks

I can't speak for everyone here, but myself, I used honda grip glue for my grips. I did try it without the glue at first, but because I installed the mylar wrap around Symtec heated grips, I found that when the heating elements get hot it causes the rubber grips to twist and slide out of position. I had to remove them and reinstall using the grip glue and now they stay secure. I was real careful especially on the throttle sleeve not to over do with glue.

When I installed my Risers, I could not figure out why I needed to remove the grip, so I didn't. I just slid the whole assembly off and installed it on the new riser bar. Still do not know why they wanted me to even hassle with the removal of the grip on this side?:dontknow:

Glued on real good.

Just installed NMN risers. Throttle side no probs. Clutch side was a total PITA. Who ever put that sucker on must have shares in the glue factory. After half hour of careful pushing and probing with the windex and screw driver I poked a hole through the side of the grip:gaah:
Ended up cutting that sucker off. Oh well, it looks like I'm of to the bike shop on Monday for a new set of grips.

Any recommendations :dontknow:
