• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

grip buddies showed.....

me the errors of my way. Anyone else just use soap and water to install grip replacements?

I replaced my grips over 3 years ago with soap and water and no movement or so I thought. As it turns out there was no lateral movement; but, once I installed the grip buddies I found there was rotational movement due to horizontal seam shift.

I had it today with the seam shifting and took the grip buddies off and looked for a garbage can. Luckily I didn't find one. When I got home I decided since I had Gorilla glue laying around I'd use it. I also used hair spray inside the grips. I'm letting the right side grip sit overnight before re-installing the grip puppie. I used the glue sparingly b/c I know it expands.

So, has there been anyone else with the right side grip buddie seam shifting?

grip puppies showed

have had mine on for long time now in 109 temp and cold and back to hot and they have not filed me, even with heat grips on to. you must really take your time putting them on right. they will last. P.S. still on me BMW bike 3years and work great. So please take your time installing them, they will work..

I got a pair of OGB have had them on my spyder for less than a month and they are starting to fall a part like there wearing out already

Sorry, but I am confused - you talk about both grip puppies and grip buddies. They are two different products. OGB (Grip Buddies) are not put on with soap and water - they have adhesive and are wrapped. Wont get movement in either direction with Grip Buddies that I can tell (have them on two spyders).

My original post said grip puppies; my mistake. I went back in and changed it to grip buddies; I have the OGB. There is no way to change the heading when looking at the list of posts. But, once you click on the post, the heading does say grip buddies.

In any case, I did not say I used soap and water to install the OGB. I said I used soap and water to install replacement grips 3 years ago.

I knew confusion would happen between these two products when they have similar names and usage.

To clear things up.....

Grip PUPPIES are a slide on foam grip cover that goes on with hot soapy water. They have been around for 20 years or more. They don't have a seam, cost around $9.00. They can be bought various places:

'Original' Grip BUDDIES are a grip cover that wraps around and is made of rubber with a sticky back to hold them in place. I think they're a fairly new product on the market - :dontknow: . They run around $25.00
They are now a site sponsor: http://originalbeemerbuddies.com/

Both provide similar benefits but go about installation two different ways. I have not used the 'Buddies' so I cannot comment on how they work or install, but so far people out here have posted positive results. I've used 'Puppies' for years and really like them.

talked with Dave today from OGB and he very sorry for me have a problem and making a new set for me customer support was great i have to say

My 'Original' Grip BUDDIES spin on the grips

I have a pair of 'Original' Grip BUDDIES that have been installed for just about a month. On both sides the adhesive has completely separated from the velcro and is balled up in various places around the entire grip. They will spin around the grips if it is warm out requiring constant seam repositioning. Also the neoprene on one of the grips is already wearing out.

It is a shame, I love the way they make the grips feel, VERY comfortable.

I too have contacted Dave and am awaiting a response.

Thats weird. We have had some crazy heat and my grips were on high for a while the other day an i have had no issue with the ogb's. I actually expected too when i put them on but i cannot see how they could move?? Maybe original grip material not compatible or contaminated?

Josh

I already heard from Dave, we actually spoke on the phone, and he is replacing my grips with some that have a higher temp rated adhesive on the Velcro. The grip he is sending has a different type of material that he says might be more durable than the current neoprene in my grips. Hey said they may absorb a little water but I rarely ride in downpours so I think they will be fine.

Excellent customer service experience!
