• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Grill cover right side

Folks, I'd like to clear something here. My son noticed that my RT did not come with the plastic grill on the right side. It reveals some kind of unfinished product since the left side has one. The dealer told me that every single RT in their showroom is the same (right side missing). They said it was done to prevent overheating and melting of "a" harness. I saw one RT in my area with the plastic grill. Do you guys have one on the right? It is driving me crazy! Can some of you advise?:dontknow::dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:

All RTs do not have a grill on the right side. but, check SpyderPops products for a nice blocking plate that will limit the heat coming out on that side.

That is the way they send them to the dealer, you can get after market grills to put in if you like. I was lucky and won a pair of chrome ones for the top and bottom at Spyder in the smokies two years back when we went to Lamonts BBQ.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Lamont, but I think you can put a simulated grill over the spyderpops shield. I think Lamont HAD that on his OLD RT-S

The dealer was extremely straight about installing something there and voiding the warranty if something happens with the harness.
Well, still drives me crazy... I may have to remove the other side to look symmetric...:joke: I know, I know... I'm nuts!
Thanks everyone!

I saw a new 2012 limited last Saturday, and it had a grill on both sides. Maybe they are putting them on all 2012's?

Yeah, kind of bugs me that its not symmetrical too. My bike is the same way and my dealer told me the same thing. If melting was an issue, it could have been made out of aluminum or other metal.

Grill cover Right Side

Here is my reply ref Grill covers posted sometime ago

There is alot on this website about the excessive heat the Spyder can
give off - It maybe the gaps are there to allow extra ventilation anyway

I have covered in the RHS with some Stainless Steel Grills - They get hot
but cool down quickly when the fan cuts in and I have not had any problems so far

see Item 9# http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/s...ghlight=grills

You will see from the above post it now matches both sides

I can tell you for sure the stock 2012 does not come with a right side grill. I'll bet if you look you'll find those are metal and not plastic like the left side.
