i`m new here - my english could be better...
I got my spyder some month ago and we found (after some.. no-many many miles) a way to take together the nicest tours from austria to italy slowenia aso.. till now 9000km (15.000 mls ?) - the spyder parks on the side of my BMW-R100RS which is built 1980.. and was used for our marriage-trip exact 25 years ago..
so this time we (me and the still best ever co-driver) did the same route with this unbelievable spyder - the best touring-bike I´f ever used (5x Bmw´s Goldwing/Guzzi..)
we have three children/ one dog.. so I think the only legal way to drive with such a fun and speed over our mountains is the spyder..thats what I also told my old mother (security-package with vssabsaso) ..if you know what I mean..
all together absolut no problems till now - but

if I drive on a dirt-road or so - the spyder-motor stops complete and has to be restarted - happens several times..have anybody here the same problem

I've had my Spyder on many dirt roads and never had it quit on me. Not sure why it's doing that unless the VSS is kicking in because of wheel spin. :dontknow:

I have a lot of friends in Italy and have had a great time riding there. Hope to do it again someday. :doorag:

If I remember correctly, the traction control portion of the VSS will allow some wheelspin straight forward, will cut back the power it the wheel spins at speed or the handlebars are turned, but will shut off the engine if the wheels spins much in reverse. Anything other than this should be checked by a dealer.

my serial-nr is 329 maybe this is an old problem what they have changed till now ..there are only few ( 10?) spyders driven here ..
the second change I want is - to have more "power" on the front brakes after the service they found out they look like never used - and i have the same feeling if I have to make a stress-brake ..

As for dirt roads:
If the vehicle stabilization controls detect slippage or other oddball movements it may be attempting to control the speed of the engine.
And the rough roads may be overwhelming it. That is just a guess.
BRP recommends pavement for the Spyder.

its wright we do have the finest bike streets in the world - there are 690 pass-roads in the alps 169 in austria and 284 in italy.. I have done most of them.. the spyder is built for exact this kind of roads - with two persons and luggage we are a little faster than our BMW - but downhill the spyder is really one of the fastest vehicles to drive ( also if its wet..)
