• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Green Fluid Leaking

I know this has been covered, but I would like some clarification.

I have had 2 occasions the past month or so where a small amount of green fluid is underneath the bike. What could this be? What light green fluids are in the bike? Would it definitely be coolant?

I had a water pump leak some time back. Dealer replaced the gasket. I wonder if this is the same issue? I believe that was a light green leak as well.

It's not bad enough yet to call the dealer. Just trying to figure out where to look.

So basically I need to make sure hoses and clamps are tight?

Anything else I should check before screaming for the dealer?

It is most likely coolant. Most likely caused by a loose clamp on one of the hoses. It may be caused by a crack in the reservoir- the original ones were defective. And lastly it could be coming from the water pump but that is usually accompanied by a little bit of oil. This is a weak spot in these engines and from what I have learned it may not be fixable in the long run. It is also about $800 to get a temporary fix.

So look for the leaks on your own. Put a piece of newspaper under the bike and then follow the trail back up on the bike and you most likely can fix it with a turn of a screwdriver.

Then go out and ride.

Have to agree..!!

coolant...check hoses, clamps, resevior cap, and pump area. If you did recently add fluid start with the cap and make sure it is at the second detent...

Teddy says if it looks anything like this, its a coolant leak.... a word of caution

And if you take it to your dealer to have them check it out again, you might ask if their aware of not draining the radiator using the drain plug, but pulling the lower hose. The way the plug is made into the radiator, many of them are breaking when pulled, requiring your dealer to replace the entire radiator. Not a big deal for the customer as it will be covered under Warranty, but it does take extra down time, as most dealers don't stock Spyder radiators, so it could cause more down time than desired, so Teddy thought it worth mentioning
