This is some good food for thought. I ordered my Spyder a week ago today and cant wait until it gets here. It was a tough decision but I decided to get the SM5. First of all, I dont want to wait. Secondly, I have never ridden a bike with a clutch but I think it will give ME more control of the bike as the Spyder has plenty of systems that control the bike somewhat already. And another thought was maintenance and things to go wrong with the tranny. Since it is the first year and there are obviously a few bugs...squeaky brakes, oil consumption etc with the Spyder I am thinking its possible the semi-auto transmission could be a likely place for some of that. The last reason and probably the least one that matters is resale value. I am thinking the die hard motorcycle person will be more likely to buy a fully manual in the future rather than a semi-auto.
