• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

GPS Question

OK, could be a silly question, but I have never had a GPS and am about to order one. Will the windshield suction cup mount work on a RT windshield?

It may do but with the road surfaces not being that good it could come come loose and would be damaged or may hit you or some other
road user

I would not like to trust my expensive Zumo 660 to a suction fixing only

I would use a much more secure fixing and there are many types available inc RAM Mounts

I understand you want to mount it in line of site try this thread

This is for a Zumo GPS

Maybe if you also specify the GPS Model you are considering

I am sure many others will be able to provide some great advice

Ram X Grip mount

I like the Ram X Grip handlebar mount. Available at Amazon and GPScity. I have 2 and they hold my Fastrack or GPS or phone very securely.

When I first got my GPS I was curious about this same thing. It will suction cup on the windshield but it will fall off too. I put a leash on mine just in case and it came off several times before I remounted it. I would silicone it if you're really set on doing it this way.

I would personally not trust a suction cup on a motorcycle, as if for whatever reason it comes loose, you might as well kiss it goodbye.

If you go with the suction cup, I would recommend you also attach it somewhere with a small rope or fishing line, to prevent it from falling if the "cup" ever looses its "suction".

Attached to the windshield arm, An "invisible" fishing line may just save the day.

I totally agree with the comments, don't trust the suction mount! If you use it use some form of insurance if it looses suction!

I don't want to drill holes so, when I need or want to use a GPS I use a GIVI s850 bag that I strap to the handle bars. It's waterproof and has an extra pocket for toll money, a phone, whatever. And, I can easily plug the GPS into the battery or I can swap it out for a cell phone or other GPS if needed.

Check around if you decide to get one, prices to vary. When I bought mine I found the best price on eBay.

Teddy agrees 100% with the others about NOT trusting just a suction cup mount

Don't do it unless you want to loose it :lecturef_smilie:

Spyders have a very short wheel base and that makes for a lot of bumps and jars while enjoying the road, but would play havoc on a suction cup mounted GPS. Even ours mounted with a Ram Mount still gets shaken pretty regularly, but absorbs the impacts well. As others have stated, there are better choices to go with. Good Luck;)
