I took the GPS off my old bike before I traded it in so I needed a way to mount it. The BRP mount is nice, but way more than I wanted to spend. I've seen a couple other top clamp mount plates, but they all seem to use Ram mounts which are great if you need the adjustability but seem too much if you don't. So I grabbed some calipers, a couple bits of scrap aluminum, the lathe, the mill, and the welder and made my own. It would have been much simpler to make from steel but I need the practice with aluminum and I could always redo it later. Also I haven't wired it yet because I'm waiting till I decide which heated grips I'm installing so I can do both at the same time.
