• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Richard (Extracool) brought his brand new red SE over for me to add a few parts that he's been collecting for the last few months. This was the first SE that I've driven and I could really get use to it. :thumbup:

Richard has a really bad back, I mean really bad :shocked: and the stock riding position was killing him so we had to do some mods if he was going to be able to put some real miles on it.

The first thing I added was the 4" No Magic Risers. The more I see these on other Spyders the more I like them, they just fit the Spyder and kind of look like spider legs.:D :spyder:

The install went really slick. I pulled the windshield and popped the dash so I could get to any wires that might need clipping. I didn't have to clip anything and was able to pull all the slack I needed through the dash.

I was thinking I was going to have shim the bar in the riser out for the SE but didn't have to do anything. If you have the riser pulled back it works just fine and there is no need to shim anything.

I mounted all the controls to the bars and then bolted them to the risers that were already on the stock bars. That's when I realized that the little plastic caps that were on the stock bars are really not meant to work on the new risers. Up until now all the risers that I've installed had a handbrake so I never used the plastic cap anyway. If you look at the cap it is meant to cover the very end of the stock middle section so it has a lip that is a little over an 1/8" long. That lip has no where to go now with the new bars and the ID is much bigger than 7/8" so it would be a sloppy fit anyway. I just polished the bar and chucked the plastic cap. Looks great now and Richard polished his risers anyway so they match. :doorag:

Next I moved on to the Highway Bracket's with the Kury 4" arms and Widow Pegs.

This went pretty slick too. I had never seen the inside of a SE so I took a few shots for those of you that are like me. :doorag:

There's not much to installing the brackets but Richard needed to get his feet up a bit more and back. He's not as long legged as I am and the stock brackets were not going to work for him the way they were.

I added the clevis and the 4" arm with the Widow Pegs but it really made it a lot wider than I liked and I knew he was going to feel the same way so I got rid of the clevis and drilled out the arm to 3/8" and used a stainless Allen Head bolt and nut and was able to gain about 1.5". It came out really nice and and worked well for Richard. :doorag:

While I had the dash off for the risers I decided to go ahead and install the No Magic HID's for him. My hands are just too big to work inside that little area so I popped the top of the console off to give me more room. That worked great and I was able to do a real clean install. I did have one side fight me as far as getting the clip to lock in but I walked away for a bit and came back and it went right in. Don't know what I was doing wrong before. :dontknow:

The nice thing about doing this on my Spyder and then Ron's is I find better and faster ways to do them the next time. :doorag:

Next I moved on to the No Magic Triple Play. This is a must have mod for all Spyders. You would not believe what a difference it makes to being able to see the Spyder going down the road and when you hit your brakes. :thumbup:

Richard has Corbin bags so I thought I was going to have to pull them to get the bottom pan off but you really don't need to take the pan all the way off to get to the wires you need to tap into.

The install is super easy on this. Plug the male and female purple wires to the male and female power wire on the left side turn signal, plug the gray male and female wires to the power wire on the right side turn signal. Plug the male and female power plug from the Triple play to either of the stock tail/brake light power plug. Mount the LED's to each turn signal and that's it. There is a little more to it but that's the short version. ;)

From there I modded the Vista Cruise and mounted it. That went really slick and I was very happy with the install. Poor Richard and Sheila ran all over East TN looking for the right one but all in all it turned out great.

The only bummer is the glue for the Kury grips was hard so I had to wrap some black tape on the left side to get him home. That was really the only problem I had with all the installs.

Richard called me when he got in town and said he couldn't be happier and if the Spyder was stock he would have never made it home with that bad back of his. That made me feel good. :D:doorag:

Do you know if there is any way to bring the passenger pegs up and forward? My wife is 4'11" and the pegs are way to uncomfortable for her.

Lamontes mods to our SE5

Lamonte did a fantastic job of modifying the highway pegs for my comfort and the 4" risers are a must for a bad back, the 8000 HIDs are like driving in the day, the triple play are a definite safety plus, the cruise ctrl a great help for numb hands. Lamont was able to do all installation in 1 day, I can ride again thakks to Lamonte work and modification to fit me and my back.
