• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Got the lastest and greatest update today..

So this update will cure the --Surging--Backfiring. And how about the running hotter. Ever since the DPS update mine gets hotter a lot even in colder weather. Used to take several stops at red lights to raise the temp; with outside temp at 85 and above. Now it does it even slowing down for the stop for the 1st light. with outside temps in mid 60%:gaah:

So, now we can get our update....Updated!?

But what if our update todate is working great!?

Should I update or procrastinate? That's the debate.

I'd say some will wait for a later date to see if it's love or hate with the new update.

It may, I know mine never got above 5 bars. But all bikes are different

I'll be calling the dealer when they open this morning to set up for dltang and myself to get the latest update. Initially, both our Spyders ran great after the first update but they started running a little worse after a few weeks. We plugged the purge valve on dltang's Spyder and that mostly cured her problem. Mine only starts running rough when it gets up to 5 bars on the temp gauge. It runs great at 3 bars and good at 4 bars.

I did the purge valve mod and ran a hose from the canister where the hose to the valve was to a opening near the rad. It helped but I dont think it was quite as smooth running as before the update. This new software hopefully will rectify the engine performance. Now it will be a wait till BRP gives it's dealers access to the update through there BOSS website.Sooner the better as it wont be long till the Spyder gets stored and the Rev comes out for winter riding.

Hey Hey Hey..
I was one of the peeps that got the update fix at the motorsports during the Smokies ride event, however, I got mine done on Friday Evening.. finished about 5:30PM. I took the spyder in at 10:30am for Oil/filter, and new rear tire.. No tire until after 3PM due to out of stock and pending UPS delivery.
They, the tech's ran into a problem after replacing the tire and was getting a ABS error.. I finally got a hold of Holly ( serivce writer ) and explained that there were two 180 degree opposing magnets on the rear wheel. Upon investigation the tech found one magnet disloged and had gotten stuck on the ABS sensor.. Once that was corrected, no more ABS Error.
Upon my return home, I found that the sputting and surging completely gone and the engine now is back to normal as was before the orginial update. However, not sure about the gas mileage, but that had improved about 4 mpg prior to the Update Fix.
I will know better, when I ride here in Florida the MPG improvement.

Mountain Motor Sports... I thank you.. great peeps and service. A big Kudu to Holly.
BRP tech.. WOW you sure were put on the test line this day.. Thanks for your support and the training you gave the techs while you were there.

My only issue is the popping and I wonder if that is curable?

Check your y pipe gaskets maybe they are shot:dontknow:

Also, if you have not gotten the DPS update, that needs to be applied first, otherwise you risk creating more problems for yourself.

can you explain more on that? I havent got the first one done but would like to do the new one since it seems to work for peeps. I really dont want anything to do with the first update. I would think the second would "overwrite" the first one anyway.

Does the new update do the steering as well?

The new update has nothing to do with the Steering. It is essentially retiming the purge valve on when to purge and when not to purge. The flow from the purge valve goes to the rear cylinder. what it was doind was releasing fumes from the cannaster at the wrong time. Causing the surging and sputtering. If you have not done the first update, than this will not do you any good. In fact, You will probably get DPS error messages across the screen. The first update tells the ECM to look for the DPS. The second update is dependant upon the first update being applied.

I hope that makes sense.

yes, it does. thank you very much for the explanation

I am scheduled for the update and update to update on Oct.6th based on parts arriving at dealer by this Friday.

Yes, my toes and fingers are crossed.

I'll post results Tuesday night. I'll have two one hour rides under my belt by then.

Glad to hear there is an update to the update (LOL)... I am also glad we waited and opted not to do it before our trip. Now it can all be taken care of at once when it goes in next month.

What popping are you talking about?? The gas milage on mine never changed that I noticed.

I really don't give a flying fig about the gas milage. Just want my Spyder to run as well as it did before. Quickly and smoothly.
If I wanted economy I would have bought a scooter.
All the talk about mpg is what prompted BRP to look at it in the update in the first place.
The Spyder is heavy with a reasonable amount of power, it is never going to be a contestant in an economy drive.

Now that I have that off my chest....phew.
