Got some good pics of the backrest

That was what the original design appeared to be, but these pictures show something completely different. No rack, just a replacement tailpiece. They did say the new rack had a storage compartment. This tailpiece, without the backrest, could have a little door. It has no place to attach a bungee, however. Just won't work for our needs, if this is what it has evolved into. The original rack looked like exactly what we wanted.

IMHO the plate is stil there to cover the lugagerack when the backrest is not mounted. The design of the backrest did change, before you could see a piece of the lugagerack, now they have made it bigger so it covers whole the lugage rack.

When you pull this knob

the backrest will pop out and then you put the rack in it's place. Didn't get to see the rack but my guess is it will have some sort of tiedown points.
