• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Got pulled over today!

sight seeing

Talk about getting pulled over. Out in the sticks I ran into an armed vehicle check point where they were looking for anything they could. I was waved down. You don't want to go around one of these barriers believe me. When stopped a man in civilian dress came out of a sort of shack to talk to me. He told me he had me stopped only so that he could see my Spyder, that he had nver seen one before. Pleasant as could be. I told him about the Spyder and what I knew. He told his "helpers" to let me pass with no inspection and wished me well---all in Spanish. We both were pleased and enjoyed the few minutes. He must have been bored to death. I made his day. Down here a road block is something you don't mess with. About 100 meters after the road block were a couple of 50 mm machine gun mounted military trucks that would stop a tank. A good part of life in Mexico.

I had this exact thing happen to me. I was riding my Spyder down the highway from the Gold Coast to Coolie (in Australia) and a HP copper who usually rides a police bike pulled me over to have a look at the bike as he hadn't seen one before!! The second shock the copper had was the fact I'm a paraplegic riding one! In the U.S Paraplegic's have been riding the Spyder for a while, here in Queensland Australia I had to challenge and get the laws/ rules changed so people with a disability can ride these bikes!! I was only doing 97 in a 100km zone so I knew I wasn't getting done for speeding however being the first time I've been pulled over on my Spyder, wasn't sure what was going to happen!

Mexican I call it a DWC. Driving while cool. And I was taught to hand the officer my licence and my CC permit. A smart cop will know that no one with a Conceal permit has ever committed a crime besides the thorough background check. I did not know the CC permit pops up on their little computers though. Wow.

And Arthur I am driving my new car down to San Miguel de Allende next week. I expect to get stopped. lol

Cops n Spyders

I don't think the officer had any intentions of writing you a speeding citation, he used that as probable cause to stop you and ask you about your spyder. IMHO!!
I had the same thing happen to me as I rode through the Sierra Mtns. in CA. I was riding with a couple of 2-wheelers when they pulled ahead of me and went out of sight. We were on one of those twisted roads in the mountains so I waited until the road straightened out a bit and then I gunned it. I did not see the CHIP dude behind me until he turned on his flashing lights. After we stopped he came over to look at the Spyder and about 4 of his buddies showed up too. They all looked over my Spyder and after warning me about deer crossings they let me go.

Oh I know the feeling!

I was on my way to work on Smurfette one morning, and an officer working a detail looks over at me and motions for me to pull over. I did, not really worried because I was only doing about 10mph, and there were no crosswalks or traffic lights nearby. He asks me "How do you like that bike?" No matter which model of Spyder we have, we are all ambassadors for our:f_spider: ! Gotta love it!

IN WA State

I also carry concealed weapon, at all times, with all the proper permits....BUT have been told very clearly that when stopped you tell officer you are carrying, where and show permits. Otherwise, the officer if looking on computer sees info and you haven't been forthcoming....they have the right to NOT BE NICE in writing the ticket. Fortunately I have not put this to the test. Now if you are thinking that I never break the law while driving Ms Spyder...that would not be accurate...just haven't been caught....

I like the picture of the Rocket III. That is one mean bike. I test sat a fire engine red one a couple years ago and almost bit. The dealer told me to start it up. I did and when I cranked on the throttle I could not believe how the bike wanted to move sideways.

I figured I would get into to much trouble if I had all those horses under my control. I generally obey the speed laws--but would have been really tempted with the Rocket.
What can i say, i ride my rocket like an old man, just like the feeling of 149 hp and 147pounds of torqe @2000rpm,
you should have rode it, its almost as fun as the:ani29:

Arthur, i know exactly what you mean, every time i go home (when i used to go) i encountered at least 4 checkpoints, those huge guns on top of the hummers look really mean..
