• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My first thoughts were it is hard for an old man to get back out of. The windshield is to low for me I would like more protection from rain etc. No power outlet to run a GPS etc. There is not a lot of storage space if 2 are going for a long weekend. I did not see a way to put a trailer hitch on it to pull a trailer with it. It is comfortable in it with plenty of seat adjustment for the driver, did not check out the passenger side. Liked the feel of the shifter. Good design of the body, looks fast just sitting still. This one was the base model, so the $4,000.00 upgraded model is probably a lot nicer. I have no doubts it will not hurt the SpYder market at all, to different animals all together. For those in the Syracuse area, there will be one at the snowmobile show in the Oncenter this weekend. The upgraded one so I hear.

Rather hear a about cheques in dealers greedy mit!!

Can hardly wait for the excited new owners, to step up and relate their honest experiences and feelings. It might be more interesting than speculation and wishing..

We actually looked at a Miata...;)

... for about three seconds!

It was too cute for me to do anything in it, but look embarassed! :opps:

I saw in Cycle World Mag. today that their is an article about the Polaris Slingshot. Here is the website for cycle world mag. Try: cycleworld.com. Deanna

Thanks, Dee!
It appears that we've got some "weather" heading toward the Northeast; I hope that you and Mike can find a break in it, and do some riding! :2thumbs:

Chuck,
So when are we gonna go throw our carcasses into one? :dontknow:
(Or TWO?)
Isn't the Motorcycle Mall, a Dealer for them?

See you on Sunday?

:thumbup:You can have the wheel first; I'll be waving to all of the "Young Lovelies", that we pass! :D
Sunday... :2thumbs:
Bring your appetite!

I don't get why folks here keep comparing apples to oranges.

The Slingshot isn't a good touring vehicle because it's not a touring vehicle, nor a convertible automobile. It's a local toy / track beast. It gives all the fun of a T-Rex / Morgan at a MUCH cheaper price.

It's not competition with the touring Spyders, nor the F3. But at $20K, the Slingshot is *most definitely* competition to the RS. If all you want is high-speed fun on the weekends but DON'T want an actual motorcycle with all the attendant risks and worries-- let alone a desire to go touring-- the Slingshot is going to grab a lot of attention that otherwise would have gravitated to the RS.

That said, I guarantee that if the Slingshot sells well, either Polaris or the aftermarket will find ways to increase its practicality in the future-- removable top, attachable storage, perhaps even a trailer option. The Slingshot in 2014 is where the Spyder GS was in 2008: brand-spankin' new, in every sense of the word.

Thanks..!!

always good to hear from one of our own. Know it won't hurt spyder sales but will put a dent in the T-Rex for sure. when will you get to drive one.??

I was originally scheduled to get mine next week.... Well, that ain't happenin....... It'll get here when it does - not like I don't have anything else to ride... ;)

i think the new corvette looks great, i also like the slingshot & long legged blondes but i am not going to compare
any of them to my spyder or my wife & don't plan on getting rid of either.

I am going to be taking a test ride in one next weekend. It may be just a toy, but I am starting to wonder if that is what I really desire anyway.

Just sayin'...........

I agree, It is just a toy otter, just like the spyder. Just a different kind of toy....
The problem for me with the slingshot is that I could have just as much fun and probably the same experience in a boxter, with the added benefit of AC and a roof for those "not so fun" conditions too....
