Good Vibrations Tour

One week from now we head west on an our journey to the west coast. From MA to the Beach Boys plaque in Hathorne CA it is 5,145 miles. Crystal may be getting off in Phoenix area at 4,778 miles. The plan is 14 days to Phoenix then 1 day to California. Most of the roads are secondary roads, trying to limit the use of Interstates. Now to figure out how to get back home. Each color is one day of planned travel. Most days right around 350, some less, one day is more. There is no time limit on this trip, I am on permanent weekends, so when we get home we get home. We are doing our 5th National Park Tour for the IBA, so we need the government to cooperate and not shut down so that the National Parks remain open. Grabbing some Merci Cars as well. Also need these hurricanes to cease, even thou we are not really getting near the coasts. More for the folks in Texas, Louisiana and Florida if they get hit. They have endured enough of Mother Nature.

C'mon north a bit on your way back, Custer State park in SD is an awesome riding area, around Deadwood, Sturgis, Devil's Tower etc, I'm sure many other NoCal, Nevada, Utah, CO, Wyoming, SD ryders can suggest some awesome late summer early fall routes, then swing up through MN, WI, the UP and Michigan for the fall colors in the Midwest to compare to your home areas...

Return trip will be a more northerly route passing thru Colorado, Utah, Nebraska and then IOWA, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio. So we won't get that far north, at least for now. Thanks for the suggestions thou.

I made a trip from Kansas City to the Outer Banks of North Carolina this past summer. I stayed mainly on US Highways and averaged about 360 miles a day. My travel day was 8 am to 4 pm everyday. On the way back I had to make time. I was on Interstates then averaging about 425-450 miles. Again, it was an 8-4 kind of day. Your travel plan falls right into the one I followed.
