• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Friend was missing hers on the RT so we stopped at Lowes Plumbing dept and found a box labeled #15 1'' OD that fit nicely. Good fat ones, about 8 or 10 in box for $1.50.

That sounds like a good find! I would be somewhat concerned as to where the original "o" ring went?

Good deal, Hopefully they are all good for the intended use. O rings are not all created equal. If you used lowes o ring, make sure rechecked them for deterioration due to heat and oil effect. This a advice from a Aviation hydraulic technician (US navy retired).

Don't know about yours, but both of ours rolls down when unscrewing the dipstick. Pretty easy for it to fall off...just hope hers didn't fall into the tank!:opps:

Jerpinoy: You have a good point about durability but these are made for hot/cold faucets so I expect they will do fine; however, the oil residue might cause some deterioration. In a pinch tho, they work.

The O-ring from the plumbing dept. could be the wrong material but it is exterior part and can be easily changed if it starts to go bad.

It is impossible for the larger diameter o-ring to fall into the smaller diameter dip stick hole. If for some reason it did make it's way into the oil tank, it can't get past the strainer screen at the bottom of the oil tank.

Thanks Billy. My Can Am is out in shed and its been raining like crazy here, so I was too lazy to walk out to check the size vs hole. :opps:

Lost O Ring

Had the same thing happen to me. Looked high and lower for the o ring. Finally found the o ring laying down between the oil tank and the black tupperware. Very difficult to see and retrieve, had to use mechanical fingers to reach it.

On or Off..!!

ours either stays in the recess on the tank or halfway off the threads. I always remove it to check oil clean it and re-install onto the threads. Haven't lost one yet but you have enough for a life time...!!

"Viton" o-rings will withstand heat much better than the ones used for plumbing will.
