• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

GOOD RIDING WEATHER THE LAST TWO DAYS, BUT...

The last two days here were too warm not to ride. 60 degrees yesterday, 55 the day before. Rode about 60 miles each day. On both days upon arriving home, put the Spyder in the garage and immediately was almost overwhelmed by gas fumes. I got down on the garage floor & looked at the weep hole. I could see gas fumes and dripping gas coming from it. The fumes at floor level were unbelieveable, really nauseating. The saga just goes on & on. :banghead::banghead: I am so tired of all the problems with this machine. I cannot in good conscience sell it on the open market, and no dealer in their right mind would take it in trade. I guess my only hope is that the NHTSA investigation will force BRP to come up with some solid answers, instead of the band-aid fixes they have tried so far. Ideally, for me, would be a buy back program, but I am not holding my breath.

Thanks for posting your update. Right there with you on the hopes for the NHTSA investigation outcome. The gas fumes are bad, and dangerous. BRP needs to fix it right or buy them back as they do not meet the requirements for 2013 motor vehicles. BRP is likely headed for a pretty stiff fine too....I heard through the grapevine that CARB has decided to look into the emissions deficiency as well.

Is this just a problem with the 2013's?????????? I don't see this happening with my 2014 RT Limited
BIG F

There have been NO reported gas fume issues with the 2014s; the re-design seems to have caught all of those problems. ;)

Good to hear..!!

glad you were able to get in some ryding. Hope the weather holds up for you and you can keep ryding...
If you feel you can not sell it or trade it in because of the gas fume issue.. this site has provided solutions for this that you can do yourself or not. We all hope there is a solution coming...

the 998 and drop in a 1330. I am lead to believe the 2013 changes were basically to accommodate the 1330, which was not quite ready, so BRP could just do this for you!!

You are correct, the 2013 frame was built to accommodate the 1330, but according to my contact at BRP the 1330 "was not ready" at that time. Additionally, body panels were changed for 2014, as well as putting two radiators up front. So, the new frame was slightly altered to accommodate the 998, which, along with the all enclosing Tupperware, has caused all kinds of problems with some Spyders, but not all. As far as getting BRP to drop a 1330 into my RT along with all of the other changes related to the 2014 models would probably cost them more than a straight buyback & replacement. I'm not sure that BRP is ready to do this, but in a few days we will know what their response to the NHTSA investigation is. Any speculation prior to that is just pure speculation. Let's wait and see.

Best of luck

We wish you and all others with this 2013 problem all the best in the final result of the NHTSA activity. We're rooting for you!! You really do have a great looking RTL!!!

:agree: I agree that the frame change was to accommodate the 1330 on the RT. I wonder how that all translates to the ST I believe they both have the same frame. I love your suggestion I would let BRP drop a 1330 into my STL how cool would that be!! I don't know if the 1330 would fit under the tupperware of the ST though.
I know they could just take off half the plastic add some cool looking tubular frame like things and call it the F3 ST :roflblack::roflblack:
All joking aside I hope everyone with these issues gets taken care of BRP is quite the innovative company I am expecting a good resolution.
