• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Good news WE can all appreciate

I really have to disagree with you on this. I teach at a local community college. At this time there is a lack of a skilled workforce. We have more lawyers and accountants than we will ever need. When guidance councilors from local high schools come by, l enlighten them by letting them know that a student with a two year degree and a skill will start a career at twice what they make. We have more job vacancies than we have skilled labor to fill them.

:thumbup:The focus is and has been on a college degree and "free college". Just look at the Progressives current stance. The big need is for skilled labor and tradesmen not Liberal Arts, English, Political Science and Gender Studies majors.

Not buying into job stats,

just want to point out that any successful civilisation requires that some people are freed from hunter-gatherer tasks so that they can turn their minds to thinking about things such as better ways to do things, how to make a fairer society, and so on. Please don't slur all of us who may be sociologists, political scientists or historians. My previous work, based on these university (not college) degrees enabled organisations to gain federal dollars to care for the aged - so it's not all irrelevant stuff.

So you advocated for federal dollars for people that didn't want to work ?????????? Sounds like a few states here...…… :roflblack::joke::roflblack:

Der

No
Dollars for places in aged care - ie old people - which the old person then paid for out of their old age pension and/or retirement savings.

Please read properly.

Nothing to do with people who don't want to work.

All about making sure old people, most of whom have worked and paid taxes for decades, don't starve or die alone and uncared for in their homes.

Poor joke on your part, and deliberately misinterpreted and minimised my point I think.

"Free college" ... ? Where is that? I must have missed out on that when I sent my two sons to college because I paid through the nose for it.

"The Progressives current stance" ... ? Who are these Progressives who are forcing our children to go into Liberal Arts, English, Political Science and Gender Studies majors? Who's writing the checks for our children to go to college? OUR GENERATION. You know, the so-called "conservatives." We are meekly going along with this and then whining and complaining about how it's all somebody else's fault. Well, I have news. If we don't write checks to colleges for our children to become "Liberal Arts, English, Political Science and Gender Studies majors," then guess what? They don't become "Liberal Arts, English, Political Science and Gender Studies majors." DUH! And those parents who DO pay for these worthless degrees? Who suffers for their stupidity? THEY DO. So why do you care?

Where does personal responsibility of OUR OWN generation come in? This unfortunately is very typical of the so-called "conservatives" in our generation. Conservatives abandoned the field of education decades ago and meekly went right along with sending THEIR OWN children to these ridiculous majors. And yeah, the colleges are far too liberal. And why is that? Because conservatives don't become professors and deans and sit on school boards. It's so much easier to just sit on the porch and bark at all those darned liberals. Blaming is so much easier than actually doing anything.

If you want your children to be responsible adults, then try acting like a responsible adult yourself. Nobody holds a gun to your head and forces you to pay for this stuff.

I believe the free college for everyone was proposed by Bernie Sanders. You remember him I am betting.
