• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Goldwing Windshield Vent on stock Spyder Shield?

I have heard that this can be done, with care, but just saw a post about how the curvature of the vent and the curve of the windshield have enough of a difference to make it not really worth attempting. How about it? Any attempts and successes or attempts and failures? I have the vent, just don't want to cut the hole and not be able to secure the vent to the windshield! Stock shield on an 2012rt? Thanks!

For peace of mind: why not just buy the BRP windshield that already has the vent in it?
It'll save you an awful lot of worrying...

No problem.

I did mine on a 2011 RT-S some time ago. Fit perfectly. I actually cut down windshield a bit at the same time.

The hardest part is placing the vent where you want it and tracing out the pattern - they usually do not come with a template. I just covered the entire area front and back with painters tape where the vent was to be placed, traced out the vent from the front side and then cut out the hole using a hand held jig saw with a plastic/fiberglass blade. Did a bit of trimming and sanding using Dremel. I was going to add some silicone as well, but when I "dry fit" the vent, it snapped into place so well that I was afraid to remove it. So far, it has not leaked, does not rattle, and certainly adds some much needed air to the cockpit.

Took much more time for the layout than it did for the actual install.

I do not know if yours comes with mounting hardware - mine did not. But i had several stainless screws that are used to put on license plates and used them because the funny ends with the pin in them should make it harder to remove in case someone else wanted to take it.

Enjoy,
