There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. GOING RIDING TODAY IN HOT WEATHER

Well, the forecast for today here in Southwestern CT is 91 degrees with a heat index of 100 degrees. What better time to take the recall modified RT out for a spin? This will be the first really hot day I have ridden since the recall work was done, and I think that I will have a better idea of how well the "fix" works in these type of conditions. I'll post my impressions later in the day on this thread. Wish me luck!

Enjoy the ride..

..judging from past posts from 2013 RT owners, the "Fix" really does work. Photo's I've seen of the new vent look well designed to match the flow of the bike. All is well with the 2013 RT's. Will look forward to your comments about not only the bike, but of your ride today.

I'm Back

Well, I just got back a little while ago. I had picked up my RT, after the recall, this past Friday, so today was a good test. I had previously wrapped both headers and the cat bypass pipe, removed the cat, and put reflective heat tape in strategic places under the Tupperware, which stopped fuel from boiling, and stopped the associated vapor smell. But when the weather got very hot, like it was today, the bike still got hot, especially at slow speeds, and was still somewhat uncomfortable to ride.

Took a long ride today - almost two hours - at both highway and slow speeds. OAT on the display read 105°, so it was actually probably around 100° outside. Stopped and checked panels several times throughout the ride and when I got back home. I purposefully wore light weight socks and cotton pants (instead of genes), so I could feel the heat. Here are my findings...

1. Nothing on my body got hot except my arms - and that was from the sun. I actually enjoyed the whole ride.

2. Right foot heat was NOTICEBLY less. Only time I really noticed it was when I put my right foot up on the highway peg, which placed my ankle immediately next to the upper radiator vent.

3. Water temp gage never got above half way, as others have reported.

4. Only one panel got hot. All others were always cool to the touch, including the inside of the glove box, around the seat, seat latch, both black lateral panels (under the seat covering the fuel tank), both forward side panels, and the upper LH side panel right next to the long header pipe from the front cylinder. All those stayed cool. The only panel that felt hot to the touch was the upper RH side panel, and I don't know why that would be. However, NO panels were hot enough to ever burn my upper legs, even at slow speeds or when I hugged them to the sides of the bike on tight turns.

I am VERY happy with the results of the recall. BRP definitely got it right. I am now ready for long summertime rides.

Glad to hear that today's test was successful!:ohyea::yes:
The Missus and I went for a back-road exploration ride today... 30 to 35 mph in 4th and 5th gears only.
The temperature gauge on our 2014 RT never climbed above halfway!
As far as the digital temperature gauge: it was reading consistently with the thermometers that I have here at the house... 91 degrees!

Good to hear..!!

So things are right with the world of RT's 2013. It is nice to hear and glad you are able to give it the ultimate test... we, of the other models and years, are :yes: you all can ryde with the pack...:ohyea::ohyea:

YESTERDAY'S HOT WEATHER RIDE REPORT

Well, I put almost 300 miles on the RT yesterday in very hot weather. I saw a couple of temperature signs at banks, etc. along the way, and they all read from 96 t0 98 degrees. The onboard thermometer varied from 80 when I first started out, to 96 when it was really hot. The Spyder ran great, just purred along like it should have from day one. The panels were cool to the touch, only got warm on stops for gas, lunch, leg stretching, but I really think that was from sitting in the sun. No heat from under the seat or around the glove box. No gas fumes. I was hot, but that was due to the protective gear & helmet. At one point I was in heavy traffic during the hottest part of the day, doing about 10 mph. The on board thermometer got up to 102, but as soon as I got moving at a good speed, it dropped down to 93. The real added bonus was gas mileage. In 2 years, I have gotten 30 mpg only once. Yesterday I averaged 36.7 mpg, a significant improvement.:yes:

So, all in all, in my humble opinion, BRP did a very good job dealing with the RT issues that have plagued so many for so long. So, boys & girls, get the work done, saddle up, an RIDE!:thumbup:

Oh, by the way, on the way home, I saw a Slingshot on the road. A man and woman, T-shirts, no helmets. Hope they didn't roll it, but it did look like they were having fun.
