• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Glove Box Cable

This may be a stupid question, but I hope stupid questions are free for today!! :opps:

When I removed my glove box there is a cable that runs along the left side of the box and ties into a latch at the rear of the glove box. The other ends runs under the front console, didn't tear down far enough to see where it goes. What is the purpose of this cable. Is there some other way to open the glove box other than pushing on it. In the service manual I found the cable and they just call it the Glove Box Cable. Could not find where the other end goes. :banghead::banghead: I don't like having something that I don't know why I have it.

There's a feature on the RT that isn't always obvious to new owners. I didn't know about it until I'd owned the bike about six months. :opps: When you turn the front wheels and lock them with the key, the glove box also locks. I'm sure that's what that cable does.

Opps.... I see CuznJohn beat me to the answer by about 60 seconds. ;)

Great

I didn't know that. So do I get another stupid question at no charge since I can plead ignorance on that one.

Thanks I learn something everyday here.

Don't feel bad, I don't know where is the switch on my two little lights or how to turn them on yet.:banghead::banghead:

use at your own risk

Uh, yup, that cable goes to the shaky switch that locks it in conjunction with your steering, if you can get your bars full-lock , and I mean FULL LOCK . I actually tried the "fork lock" on my RT once. Like to never got it locked and struggled mightily to get it unlocked. I really think my key or switch was in peril. oh well......

That one was a "Freebie"... :D
But; we'll have to charge you twice as much, for the next one! :roflblack:

I use the fork lock every day when I park at the office parking garage. Side benefit is that it deters folks from sitting on your bike as the handlebar is in the way of the seat.

Disappointed!!!

Now that means I have to change my name AGAIN!! :( Cause I'm sure I'll have more stupid questions!! :yikes::yikes: :roflblack:
