• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Getting tired of this srap

You know, I'm getting pretty tired of this computer be so sensitive. I have ramps for my lift bolted to the floor. Every time I go out and come home I ride over them. Most of the time straight. last night I wasn't lined up. I just drove it in that way. One wheel over the ramp at a time. Doing about 5 mph. Well today I started the bike and every light came on. VSS, engine, parking brake, limp home. I disconnected the battery and put the tender on it. Hoping it will work tomorrow. BRP tech. told me in Daytona that if the battery is low, when you re connect the battery it might not have enough juice to boot up all the programs, giving faults readings. That's why I'm waiting until tomorrow before I re-connect the battery. When this happened last time I took it to a dealer. They told me they couldn't clear the system. I took it to the BRP test ride and there tech hooked me up and within 5 minutes my computer was clear and I was off and running. Don't really have much confidence in dealerships. The training for the technicians leave a lot to be desired. Four times dealers said they couldn't do anything for me. All four times I've been at a BRP event. With in 5 minutes of the hookup they have me up and running. So again. What's up with the dealers. To lazy. Or not smart enough for computers. :gaah:I should change my name to "Getting Tired of this crap. That's my 2 cents.

Have you checked that all the relays are snug. I ride on a few pretty bumpy roads and have had all the lights on and limp mode thing happen. Pull over give the relays a push and a wiggle and its all good to go again.

And, yes I do have a piece of foam in the fuse/realy cover.

I live on a hill and the road to the bottom is paved but nasty. Not sure if it is worse going up or down.

I consistently get nasty bounces on the Spyder every trip up and every trip down -- and have had no issues yet!

I'm not gettin' the connection between driving over ramps and low battery charges......:dontknow:

Don't know how many times I've agreed with you before Mr. Bones but I've got to say I don't get the connection either.

Must be just you and me though..... :D:D

Still, being off base is always more fun with a friend! I got your back on this one !!! :roflblack:

I have to agree with both of you. Must be something we're missing.

Hey Dudley! With you and Mr. Bones as company on this one, now I feel much better! :ohyea:

Guess we'll just have to sit back and wait for clarification!

Weak battery will...

cause false signals or incomplete loads of software. I use the Deltran battery tender once a week on all my machines. I have the Deltran battery tender plus which is several years old. I think it has a 10 year warranty. I also have the four station model.

Jas-store.com usually had the tender plus at a good price. I recently saw them for 37 and change.

Driving over the ramps. Could give a fault code VSS /ABS /Engine. I was told be BRP tech, If the battery is low. Like in Daytona, battery went dead, and I needed a jump. I rode that night. But, when I stated up the next morning. All the warning lights and limp home mode came on. That's where the connection comes in. When I rolled over the ramps. It was like driven off a curb. Next morning, all the warning lights and limp home came on. I disconnected the battery to re-boot the computer. So why not make sure the battery has a good charge before you connect the battery. It didn't work. Took the bike to the shop. They couldn't clear the codes. Just like all the other dealer technicians. What do the BRP tech. know. That the dealers don't know. I don't know when I'll get my bike back. Guess I won't make the car, bike show this weekend.

I think the ramp was just a coincidence. Didn't likely have anything to do with the battery, unless it has failed internally, with a cracked connector plate. If the shock didn't knock your relays loose (the most common cause of limp mode with cascading failure codes), I would suspect a loose or bad connector in the wiring harness somewhere. If the harness remained open, the dealer would not be able to clear the codes. Not sure why the factory tech was able to, but tech support should be able to talk your dealer through it.

Too many causes for limp mode to count. Any major engine problem, component failure, safety feature malfunction, or even burned out light bulbs can trigger limp mode...suddenly and without warning. Overkill to me, but it is what it is. A simple failure should give a diagnostic warning on the dash. Unfortunately, they often cascade with multiple warning. The dealer may be able to look at the historic failure codes in BUDS, and see what was first. Disconnecting the battery will usually clear historic codes, but not current ones.
