• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Getting the run around on when the next service is...

In advance, I apologize if this has already been brought up. It's hard to find old posts.

In April, I had the 14,000 mile maintenance, but no one can tell me when the next one is. When I asked at the dealership they said (maybe) 6,000 miles, but I thought it was every 3,000 miles. I normally go 6k with my car...

I am currently at 18,624, so am I good, should I take it in, or what?

many thanks!!

Here is the confusion. As of sometime in 2012 BRP changed the filters and along with the filter change came a change in the maintenance schedule. By now the the dealer should have changed out the old filters for the newer ones. So follow the maintenance schedule in the 2013 owners manual. It is the updated schedule. It is available on BRP's web site. The oil change interval has changed to every 4,600 miles (except California). There are other changes as well. My dealer at the time had a stack of revised maintenance schedule pamphlets but it appears not everybody that needed one got one.

Thanks - I do remember the mechanic saying he put in one of the new filters, so that means I should be following the 4,600 miles. That makes sense. I'll go with that, which means I need to go in, when I reach 18,600 - which is probably by next weekend (I ride about 50 miles a day to/from work).

Thanks!!!!

With the longer trans filter it is 4,600 miles, without it is 3,000. If you have the updated filter there should be a sticker stating it on the oil tank.

If you have the old manual, wherever it showed 3,000 it's 4,600 now; and wherever it showed 6,000, it's 9,300. The new maintenance booklet also has a column for 14,000. Any difference between an SM5 and SE5 is called out specifically in the same maintenance manual. The booklet number is 219 000 669.

As I see it..!!

Only the oil change intervals was changed on the 998's from 3,000 miles to 4,600 miles and the valve adjustment was also changed. The actual service remained the same. If any coinsided with oil changes should not make a difference. Check your manual and go online to brp for the update...

The intervals changed like I stated; it wasn't just oil changes. I have the bulletin and updated maintenance manual in front of me that was sent to all original owners of 2008-2012 models.

How can one obtain that updated manual if BRP didn't send it to you? (I'm a 2nd owner of this 2012, and haven't found any way thus far to let BRP know that I'm the current owner now of this Spyder)

Thanks!

There's a Change of Ownership form at the back of the Owners Manual. If you don't have the manual, you can go to BRP.com and find the Owners Manual and print the form.
