• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Get a Battery Jump Start Port or a Power Brick?

Went through SlingMods this morning, since it's Memorial Day and the wife told me to pick something out for myself... I went through and picked up a few goodies (Neutrino Aurora Plus will be back the first week of June!), and also made a short list of things that look interesting. I just wanted to get the forum's take on these - pro/con/meh

Battery jump start port. I thought this was pretty clever considering that it is a small pain to get to the battery on some Spyders. But is this worth having? Or is a power brick a better option (*You could probably rig a battery-tender style cord to the brick and easily connect). I do like the idea of ease of access, though. Thoughts? Thanks for the valuable input!

I bought a HF jump pack. And have a NOCO jump pack. One or the other will work on the Spyder.

Don't plan on using it unless the need arises.

Get whatever you think you need.

I have, and frequently make use of, Slingmod's Battery Jump Port. Makes it easy for attaching my battery maintainer clamps to. I thought it clever too, and it is!

Battery tender pig tail wires too small for any thing but charging/maintenance, please do not attempt. Several threads here on jump packs & charging.

Also as another option, some of the jump start packs I looked at had a separate harness specifically for quick connection of the jump starter and to avoid getting access for clamps on the battery posts. Harnesses like this one in the link are an accessory.

This is a great idea if you're only concerned about jumping your own dead battery. However, I carry a jump pack not only for myself but for others who may need it. The problem I've come across is that most manufacturers bury their batteries in locations that are near impossible to access with standard jump pack battery clamps. Hence the reason for item you posted. But if you are intending to jump start other owners you may need a pair of small clamps with heavy wire to access the their battery terminals. An easy item to make up and very helpfull when needed.
