• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gerbing power cord rat tail.

Does anyone know where I can hook up the power cord rat tail under the seat. I have a 2013 RT Limited. :dontknow:

I have not found a connection point under the seat. The only place I know of would be directly to the battery or possibly under the LH service cover. In case you don't know the location, open your frunk lid. Aft of the frunk is 2 black plastic service covers. Each is held in place by one plastic pop rivet. Under the RH service cover is access to the radiator cap. Under the LH service is access to terminals to which you might use for the accessory power. I too want to set-up my RT for heated gear but have not decided how to do it yet.

Well..!!

mostly recommended to hook up to the battery with the in line fuse. Most other power sources are fused lower and you will blow fuses regularly...:dontknow:

I have the Powerlet RapidFIRe jacket and glove liners. I also have their remote heat troller. I intalled a plug on the dash of my RT to connect my jacket to. It is wired directly to the battery. The heat troller is velcroed under the lip of the dash within easy reach for adjustments. With the connector, http://www.warmnsafe.com/dc-coax-jack-panel-mount-w-8in-coax-plug-cable/ mounted on the dash, when I mount or dismount, I simply reach down and plug/unplug the wire. Works great. The wiring harness from battery to the jack has an inline fuse. Your harness should come with one also regarless of the make.

I also installed a power plug and initially wired it to my battery...however, several times, the bike wouldnt start or do anything until I pulled the cord.....then it would start...so I rewired the plug to the extensions under the seat......the positive has a red cover on it and the negative is directly opposite it on the other side of the bike.......you will have to remove some of the tuperware to get to the negative...the positive is straight forward. my power plug sits in the grill of the speaker.

If you have a 2008-2012 Spyder you should not use the negative jump start terminal under the seat. That is the rear frame ground and the nut that holds it is not welded on, so loosening it makes it impossible to tighten again without removing the bodywork, making or buying a wrench that will fit, saying the right cuss words, and holding your mouth right. If it is loose it can cause all sorts of electrical problems and failure to properly charge the battery. If you messed with it, double check to see that it is tight.

Your Spyder should not have failed to start with the heated gear attached to the battery. I suspect a failing battery or a bad connection...possibly due to the pigtail. If you have further issues you should look at the battery conditions and the connections. Having staring problems when you have heated gear turned on when you start, is a common sign of a weak or inadequately charged battery.
