There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. General Altimax replacement tire

I’m understanding on here that for the best mileage for a rear tire replacement I should go with a General Altimax for my 2015 Spyder RTS. But I can’t find a 225-50/R16 in that model tire? Other sizes yes, but not the size I need that’s on the bike now.
Any suggestions or internet links for the tire? My dealer will be glad to install the tire.
Thanks for any info or suggestions.

If you have stock wheels then you have 15 not 16-inch rims. The general Altimax 215/60R15 works very well and bring the bike speedometer into line with the GPS speed. Bought mine from Tire Rack but it is generally available in lots of places.....

Yes, ALL the previous Altimax tire threads state that size as the recommendation.......

OK, I stand corrected. It is a 15” wheel. Seems I can’t read upside down in the dark garage. :banghead:
I took a flashlight with me at the new tire reading. Duh!

I got my 215/60 R15 from Wallyworld for $77.57 and free shipping. When the UPS driver delivered it he asked me if I was expecting three more.

The Michelin Defender T&H was recommended but that tire prices $115 and up before taxes! So I ordered a General Altimax RT43 from Amazon and used some purchase points to get the price just under $74 with free shipping.

I was seeing that folks weren’t getting too good of mileage from the Kumho tire and a lot better from the Altimax.

Thanks all for the inputs!

The General Altimax RT 43 tire has a "tire monitor system" built in the tire, it is in the rubber. It tells you when to replace the tire. I think someone on this website posted a "Video".

Will your dealer sell it to you?

That's great that your dealer will install. Will they also sell it to you? I got mine from Sierra Cycles, my Spyder dealer.

My dealer will be glad to install the tire.
Thanks for any info or suggestions.

I ran my Altimax for a LOOOONG time after it said "Replace Tire" because it still had lots of tread remaining. However, the wet-road traction did degrade quite seriously. On the other hand, maybe it was because the 1330 so easily overpowers it? :dontknow:

My 2011 RT has a Kumho, and wife 2013 ST has a Yokohama.. Both work very well and have around 10,000 on each with little wear showing.. Yokohama has more of a rain vectoring pattern to the tread and looks COOL..

The Altimax is a good tire, but it's not the high mileage champ. Mine only lasted about 15k miles or so. I've tried various tires and so far, FOR ME, the Cooper CS5 ultra touring is a better value. It's a little harder rubber compound so it's lasting a lot longer and I've not noticed any handling or riding deficiencies. In fact, it rides and handles very well under all conditions (dry, wet, snow, sleet, high heat). Made in the USA and the last time I checked pricing runs about $80 or so per tire.
