gear on the rear seat?

greetings,

i am heading out on a short camping trip and would like to strap a tent on the rear seat of my 2019 F3T.

the manual says don't do this because it thinks i now have a passenger and it adjusts accordingly.

is there a way around this?
can the sensor under the seat be disconnected easily?
does it really make much of a difference?

Didn't seem to make any difference for me when I loaded up the rear seat of my 2016 F3-T on route to a rally.

You can get around it by placing something under the sensor cap. What I found that works perfect is the cap off of a gal of Mobil 1 oil. This prevents the pressure from activating the switch. You can not unplug the sensor as that activites an error code.

If the gear going on your pillion seat is lightweight, then sure, put a piece of PVC Pipe or something around the switch to stop it activating the passenger sensor... :dontknow:

But if your gear weighs more than saaayyy, the 30-40 lbs or so that it takes to trip that switch, then it's probably smarter to LET the passenger sensor do its thing & allow the VSS, ABS, EBD, Yaw Sensor, & all the rest look after you as designed! :thumbup:

The sensor is fastened to the bottom of the seat, just remove it and leave it loose. A bit of tape or Blutack will prevent it sliding about.

I have packed heavy gear on the seat of my 2012 RTL That has not seemed to affect it at all.

I don't have an F3 and basically agree with safecracker. Furthermore, from years of long distance self-contained bicycle touring if you're carrying enough camping gear to set off the pillion sensor you're carrying too much junk.

I have carried a weeks worth of clothes in a bag on backseat of my 2016 F3T during a two week trip and never had a problem.
