• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gear drops out - left with no throttle response

I was in the left lane of a 3-lane highway yesterday, traveling approx 70 mph. Traffic slowed down a bit, so I downshifted from 5th to 4th...only it never made it to 4th...and it didn't remain in 5th either! I was left gear-less, and rolling on the throttle only produced a revving sound! Luckily, I was able to negotiate my way to the right shoulder due to a downhill grade in the road. The dash was aglow with an orange background and the letter "E" where the gear indicator should have been. The "check engine" signal lit up also. I could not shift into any gear. I shut the trike off, then restated it. I was able to shift to "true neutral" only by holding down the reverse button and pressing the down shift key. I got moving again and went directly to the dealer (approx 4 miles away) and sat in front of the place until they opened at 9am. The trike is there now, and I await their diagnosis and response. Before I hear from them, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and what was the necessary correction/repair? Thanks much for your feedback...I own a 2011 RT-S with 1800 miles on the odometer and electornic SE5 shift.

I had three "Limp Mode" episodes over the weekend also... the bike would idle down with no throttle response, then it'd shut off! Coast to the roadside (Fortunatley we were on secondary roads.), and it'd re-start just fine...
Heading to the dealer tomorrow for servicing and lots of questions...

Teddy & I would like to say Congrats on your New Ryde & Welcome to the SpyderHood

Sorry your starting off like this, but you problem could be many things, including a faulty GPS (Gear Position Sensor) or ECM (Electronic Control Module) etc etc.........

Next time anything like this happens, its always a good idea to read the codes and you can do this easily yourself by pressing the MODE button along with the SET button and the Turn Signal Cancel button (push it in) ALL AT THE SAME TIME, then the LCD screen should display what codes were thrown on your machine. With those codes, you can figure out what the computer system is saying is causing the error, tho many times, the system will throw a code thats truly unrelated to the real problem, then its a matter of deducing the problem down for an experienced Spyder Tech.

But, some of these issues have been caused by something as simple as having low oil level on the SE5s, as they can be very sensitive to proper oil level, since they use the same oil for the engine and the transmission.

You've found the BEST site on the WWW for ANYthing & EVERYthing Spyder Related!:2thumbs:
