G'bye SpyderPops "Missing Belt Guard."

I had one of these jewels installed two years ago at SITS 2010 in Gatlinburg. Mr. SpyderPops installed it himself. Think I'm gonna take it off (anybody actually damaged a belt with a stone, etc?). The belt guard rubs against my rear tire and is 'polishing' my sidewall. Not damaging anything. Just annoying. Most of SpyderPops stuff is good. The two components I have a problem with are this 'belt guard thingy' (well, sounded like a good idea the time) for reason stated; second, that Spyder RT 'Radiator block off plate.' SpyderPops installed one of these on my buddy Steve's RT last year at the SOE in Maggie Valley. Caused the middle side panel to stick out, and then again, there's that velcro solution to what was a snap/clip connection. Steve didn't have it on by the end of the trip for fear of losing his side panel.

Intriguing new stuff: I'm intrigued by and wouldn't mind hearing from others regarding the RT "BumpSkid" plate; also the stainless steel mesh grilles for the RT.

Well, maybe one of our alumni in the know will tell me how to fix this thing so it doesn't rub my tire. Does yours rub?

You will get information. I do not have the guard on mine--I just try to avoid gravel roads these days.

Find the thread "stupid pills" and I have another "belt adventure" that just recently happened.

I had just the opposite with the belt guard. If I remember right it used to touch the belt; but, I have a GS. Once again, if I remember right, I contacted spyderpops and I believe he said to bend the guard in the opposite direction. It's been on my spyder since they first came out and after a number of times bending the belt guard the rubbing stopped.

That's correct, that's what it says to do in the instructions. Takes a few tries but once set it stays set. I live on a gravel road and have never had a problem with the guard on. It's a good guard for a very expensive belt.

I have the heat sheild and grills. I have not had any problems with the side panel.
The top back goumet is being replaced when you take it into the shop.
It is campaign #2011-0004 on 2011 models.

Ive lost a belt to a stone [325] yes the gaurd helps a lot

I had two of the belt guard both went flying first one in Quebec last year scared the daylights out of me as I heard it come off second no idea. First one rubbed on the belt first so I adjusted it then it rubbed on the tire no big deal as it rubbed till it was down so it would not rub again, second one I cut so no rub but as I said it went bye bye somewhere.

Heh-heh ... Good hearing from you Roger. You coming to the Spring Rally? (www.midatlanticspyder.com). I've got a great route planned for Saturday, and I could use some help.

On the belt guard, well ... the clearance between the belt and the tire is so narrow, the thing is bound to rub up against something. Plus, it's not rigid. Mine just sort of dangles there, with the angle favoring intermittant contact with the tire. I'll get outter belt cover, etc. off and see if I can cut it back a little.
