There was a recall on the caps so u might talk to the dealer 1st.

A Stant 10835 will work but you have a warranty problem for the dealer to solve.

I remember those threads on the gas cap issue and my gas cap started to not want to come off easily. It would just click when I turned it. I did not want to get in a situation where I could not put gas in my spyder and did not want to get all tied up in the red tape the dealer puts you in when you need it done, so I just ordered a new gas cap from cheap cycle parts. They are really not that expensive.

I would not try substituting an automotive gas cap. The fuel system requires a curtain cap that tightens to give the right ventilation. tighten till it clicks, and dont over fill the tank.
