• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Gas cap is sticky/stiff

Okay, another question. I put gas in today, and gas cap opened easily enough, but when I closed it it was difficult to get the key out. Took some jiggling and pushing down on the cap. Have any of you encountered this? I'm thinking it's just because it's new and needs to be used a bit, but ???

Thanks again!

Let's see....

if this is the F3 the gas cap has been a bit of a problem from the begining. Like all that style of gas cap if you press the cap down not holding or touching the key till it clicks and the key jumps back to center you will have no problem. it does require some pressure for the tight seals they use....

The fuel cap and key issue, is a known one... It wouldn't hurt to mention it to your dealer, and see if they've come up with a workable solution for it.
If you search the threads in this area; there's at least a couple of them about this. I don't remember what the latest news has been, so let your fingers do the walking! :D :2thumbs:

Thanks Bob - yeah, I did that. I'm not always good at the correct technique for searches...And searching for gas cap in this forum is an invitation for excessive nonsense! lol! :roflblack:

Okay Chewy, ANOTHER beer for you! That technique worked perfectly. Still a lot of pressure needed, but the key popped back into place as you said. Thanks!!!

Gas cap problems

I have had problems with getting the cap to seat. If it doesn't the key won't release. There is a thick rubber seal that prevents the gas from leaking but I found that it was dry and hard. I put a little grease on it to soften the rubber and it seams to be working much better

Thanks Fadooz! I'll do that too.

I put a tiny amount of WD40 on rubber and I can now shut my petrol cap with no problems.
