• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Garmin Zumo 665 integration with RT-S?

The gps harness runs around $65, and the Kewlmetal mount for the 660 another $60. The 660 comes with the main cable included. This setup will send audio commands. from the gps through the Spyder's audio system and overrides the radio.

I installed the Zumo 550 with XM on my RT-S. Mounted the unit in the center of the handlebars with the KewlMetal bracket (Scotty's mount is better because it's simpler & cheaper). When I bought the KewlMetal bracket & installed it according to their instructions, the center console door would hit the bottom of the GPS cradle and drop back down. It wouldn't fully open far enough to stay open. I think I had to use some of the slots on the bracket (& possibly do some drilling) to allow me to mount the cradle higher on the bracket, which then gave the center console door the needed clearance.

Anyway, I routed a stereo cord (9' or 12') from the audio out on the GPS cradle through the Spyder to the rear trunk, where I drilled a hole and mounted a 3.5 mm stereo female jack in the trunk wall, about 2" below the AUX input jack. I attached the end of the patch cord to the back side of that female jack. I then use the BRP supplied patch cord between my new jack and the AUX input jack. I added a 90 degree adapter to the end of the patch cord so it doesn't stick out into the trunk to be hit and damaged. Did the same thing up front at the audio out jack on the GPS cradle. I shrink wrapped both ends to make them more secure and water resistant & have a cleaner appearance.

With this setup, I have fully control of the GPS at the GPS, including the XM & MP3 built into the Zumo 550. The RT's audio system needs to be switched to AUX.

The only thing I have not figured out is how to integrate the J&M headset mic into the mic in jack on the GPS cradle. I do have the BRP CB/Intercom system installed. Any help here would be appreciated.

Zumo 660 better to get 3rd party bracket and save $

I got my Zumo 660 through BRP... and yes, I paid the $1200 bucks... and quite frankly... I would suggest (hind-site is always 20-20) NOT to go that route. Here is why: 1) You can purchase the Zumo 660 or 665 easily waaay cheaper from many vendors; 2) you can purchase a third party bracket that will work just fine in locking the GPS on your bike; 3) you can pay the extra to wire it or you can just use it recharge it when you are done riding. I have seen the price for Zumo 660 + bracket to be around $600 bucks. Easily that is 1/2 of what you would spend to simply have the wiring harness. Now, here is the kicker and my final cherry-on-top reason --- I have had a lot of trouble with my stereo going in and out while the Zumo 660 is on in its bracket. I can set the GPS to MUTE and it still causes the radio to go in and out... but if I pop out the GPS unit during one of the radio outages... everything returns to normal and I can hear music through the speakers. I have asked my technician to fix this... could figure it out. Then I asked him to just disconnect it from the speakers... but leave the power aspect... just got it back last night... and dang it, it is still going in and out while I am driving. Very frustrating. Having the verbal directions going through the bike's speakers is really no big deal... volume is too low even on the highest level. Thus, save yourself $ and a headache.
