• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Garmin Zumo 550 vs 660

I am considering purchasing a GPS. Trying to decide between Garmin Zumo 550 and Zumo 660. I also own Cardo Scala Rider Q2 MultiSet and would like to interface the GPS with it.

Any feedback from experienced users would be appreciated.

The Cardo Scala Q2 units will not sync with regular Garmin Nuvi 660 (NOT the Zumo, the regular 660). The four-digit passwords are not the same between the devices (0000 vs 1234) and can't be changed, as far as I can tell from multiple web searches. Not sure if the Zumo 660 is the same situation.

Either is fine...I have the 550...love it! Go to poifactory.com and get the red light camera and speed cameras nationwide...updates weekly...20.00 per year...

I have the 550 and am still getting used to it. I finally got the XM radio and love that I am currently trying to convert all well some of my CD's to MP3 I have two 2gig memory cards I can load into the 550. I finally told the broad off about sending me down dirt roads or toll roads. I am still figuring out some of the GPS stuff. Going to try to plot a course for the ride to Branson.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I ended up getting the Zumo 660. For those of you who have a GPS installed, can you please share your suggestions as to what is the best way to hook-up the electrical for the GPS? Meaning where on the Spyder?

First, I removed the plastic ring next to the right handlebar so I coud put the U-bolt and attach the GPS. I then had the cable go under the steering column. I removed all of the left side panels and zip-tied the cable to another existing cable and then connected to the battery.

I do not have pictures of my install, but if you run into problems, let me know and I'll take some pics for you.

Thanks for the information. So you routed the cables to the battery. I was just wondering if there was a way to connect the cables somewhere up-front, like lights, etc.

I hooked my GPS up to the trunk accessory outlet wires, that way it powers off 30 seconds after you turn the Spider off.

I bought a Power Bus from Evoluzione.net and I can power multiple accessories, including my GPS from it.

Zumo 550 wiring

My dealer wired mine directly to the extra accessory circuit(unswitched) in the existing fuse box, by going down the steering column. I always turn my zumo off (and often remove it) after a ride.

Thanks everyone. These are all great ideas. I think I like the best (and I might say easiest) where it is wired to the accessory outlet wiring.

Thanks again for great input.

I used the Powerlet system on my tank bag and powered the 660 thru it. Had to get a connector from Radio Shack to match the Powerlet stuff and I can remove it without undoing any wires.
