• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Garmin released an update for the Zumo 660. Here are the changes.

[h=4]Changes made from version 4.90 to 5.00:[/h]
  • Improved audio when initiating a phone call from the device.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented music from playing after an extended period of time.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the device to shut down when installing updates.

For those of us, who are still too new to these units... :opps:
I assume that we've got to plug the USB cable into them, and tie them into our computers...
Then what? :dontknow:

Right. Open your "Garmin Express" software, and it'll check for the update and install it. Couldn't be easier!

You need to do it soon Bob. You only have 60 days from the first day you turn it on to get a free map update. It must be getting close by now.

Are you sure about that? Mine (2014 RTL) came with lifetime map updates.

Did BRP start giving the LM model? To be sure look at the model number under the battery. It should say Zumo 660LM, NA. The LM stands for lifetime maps. I had to buy the maps for my mine.

Garmin 660LM

I am updating mine now, and under the battery it states it is a 660LM, so I guess the 2014 RT-L came with the life time maps. I think that my 2013 RT-L also came with a 660LM. I may be wrong since at my age I can't remember what I had for lunch. lol

Had to have bin last week or so when I mapped the Spyderfest trip I go the update. Mine is 660 NA but I purchased the lifetime update.

Garmin updates their maps quarterly so it would behoove you to check occasionally. Obviously is you have lifetime maps you are entitled to 4 updates a year.

Evidently the V5.0 version has been out a few weeks because that's what mine has installed on it. I updated it the day I got it home.

Loader Loading

Just updated my 660 with Garmin Express on my Macbook. It's been in Loader Loading for 3 hours.

I read on another forum ADVRider that mac ppl had same problem and after 20 mins with Garmin told to send back for refurb. Wow...this thing came with the bike 3 days ago. Very unhappy.
